So, my dad decided he wanted to pick up a Flame Scallop...and put it in my tank...
I haven't researched these creatures very much, does anyone know if they need suplemental feedings? Or will they be ok getting food on their own?
Thanks guys!

They dont do to well in home aquariums. They need to be fed, and they constantly need to eat. I think flower said she use to put it in a container when feeding and leave it there for acouple hours and her's only lasted about 5 months, but I could be wrong. The reason they die is because they need a lot of food for continued good health and most of the times they will hide where you cant get food to them.
Good luck! they are pretty cool, I wanted one myself.

+1
They move where they want to go by snapping their shell open and closed really fast, so it makes feeding difficult if they wedge under the rocks, which they like to do...They are really cool...good luck.

I had one too...I tried to spot feed it with marine snow, and some other type of liquid plankton stuff (can't remember)...It eventually died
they are very pretty though....just hard to keep alive

As far a I know you can keep them in some tanks with out feeding but it helps a lot.
The problem is that thy only live for 3 years and they grow about 1-in a year so the one you get at you lfs is about 2-in will only live for a year at best. let me know if you ever see a really small one!

I have had one for over a year now. I used to spot feed it but one day it dissapeared. After a while I feared it to be dead. But the other day I upgraded to my 180 and removed all the rock out of my 55 and there he was as happy as could be. But He is about 3'' now so he might not have long to live.
