I have a flame scallop I think he is eating copepods and phytoplankton. should I have any thing else more specific to feed him? Also every time I place him in a certain place he just moves himself, any way to stop that?!

I don't believe Copepods are on the menu for Flame Scallops.
They prefer to sit at the back of a dark cave so if you place it in a dark corner or under a ledge it will probably stop moving. They don't tolerate light very well.
The average lifespan of these Clams (File Clams I believe) in an aquarium is about 6 months. Coincidentally, it takes them about 6 months to starve when removed from all food sources. They are very specific about the texture and particle size of their food.

It's moving itself to where it likes it best...best light, water current, etc. Be careful moving it, you might damage the foot...and then it won't even last the 6 months.
I've had one in my tank for a while, 8-9 months or so...and I've never seen it eating pods.
