Does anyone have a Florida Cindi Anemone? I just got one a few days ago...One minute it is full and fluffy, another it seems deflated....it does this all day long. Is this normal?

Anemones usually deflate to flush out their system so I would say no it is not normal if it's doing this all day long. If it deflates for a couple hours and inflates back up again once a day or once every two days this would be normal. Just my .02

I don't want to get rid of it...it's nice when it is puffy...LOL...I think it knows when I come in the room and deflates then.

How new to your tank is it? What type of lighting do you have for it? What are your water test results. You know the usual, and dont forget salinity... More info is needed to help you out, it may be nothing, but then again it maybe something.

It will also get nice and "fluffy" when it gets a hold of a couple of your fish.
Mine did, and he was evicted! To the bigger tank that is.

Tank is 225g, Ammonia, nitrites, nitrates all 0...PH is reading 8.4 Salinity (w/refractometer) 1.024
I have had the anemone since last Wednesday...The lights are coralife....something.....I can't remember right now (I'm at work) (I know the lights are an issue to some, but I have seen many tanks with less lighting have anemones) My Pink Haitian tip is doing GREAT....I know this sounds weird, but this morning when I first went in the room, the condi was fluffy as can be...again...after I left and came back a few minutes later is was deflated (I am talking tentacles, not base)...Last night same thing happened. It has moved some though, so I am wondering if it is deciding where to go?????

A few issues I see here. Depending on how close your haitian is to the lights will show different signs or symptoms than your condi is. The reality is, that even your haitian is lacking in light and its general health while appears to be good now is prob not going to last. But it will last longer than your condi will. It could be you purchased a very healthy animal from the start, and or it being closer to the lights than the condi, and or the lights that the haitian is under are stronger than the condi. Any combination of the above would give different results for each specimen. How long have you had the haitian? They too are an atlantic species and actually are condy anemones. I agree that your Condy is getting acclimated to its surroundings but ultimately it wont survive long term. These anemones need intense light, more so than bubble tips do. The good part about them is that they are extremely hardy and you may not see signs of poor health for a while. But it doesnt mean they are doing well... hth

Do you not know anyone who has an anemone with fluorescent lighting? Like I said before, I know it's not highly recommended, But the owner of the fish store that I have been visiting, personally has a tank with anemones and Fluorescent lighting (a carpet over 3 years, and a diff. one for 6 months) Also, being in the store at times, I have spoken to actual people who also have the same conditions (actually some have less light) This is what is so confusing to me....Oh yeah, the anemone sits about 8-10" from top....Like I said before, I am at work...I'll measure it tonight to see for sure.

Yes I do, and Yes there is a carpet anemone that can exist under NO flourescent lighting VHO is better. But,Depending on tank height and total wattage a stichodactyla haddoni and a E Quadricolor can live under them. IME they are not as healthy as they are with more intense light, however they can survive. You are missing a key element here, species specific, different species have different lighting requirements. Unfortunately yours require very intense lighting. And FWIW 6 months of an anemone's life is like 2 weeks of a fishes. Success with them should be looked at in years not weeks or months.
