Flow maker placement

I have purchased an Aqua one 400. I'm currently planning out scaping, how I'll cure rock etc...

I wanted to by two Tunze nano stream 6020 powerheads for my tank. I heard good brand will last long. Rated as 2500L/hr each. So 5000L/hr should be good for a tank that is 400L.

My question is, where is the optimum position to place these 2 powerheads? How high? facing each other? Etc..

I like to place the power heads on opposite sides of the tank pointing towards each other. You'll need to play with the position vertically and how they are aimed to prevent a sand storm. It will take a bit of trial and error and your sand bed will likely settle such that some areas are deeper than others, the ocean floor isn't perfectly level either. This is a good sized tank, 132 cm (51") long, I'd go at least a size bigger than the 6020. You need a lot of flow in a salt water tank. Alternately, maybe get a third pump and put it on the back wall pointed toward the front. I agree with getting good power heads to a degree. I have 4 Chinese power heads (3000 L/hr) I purchased for less than $10 US several years ago and they work flawlessly, I have others that were much more expensive that have given me more trouble.

With two powerheads I like to place one blowing across the front near the bottom and the other on the opposite end of the tank blowing high across the back near the surface.

Do you get much sand blown away and glass visible due to the bottom pump? How deep sand bed so you have?

Also alternatively I could buy the Tunze 6040 for the same price. This is a single pump, less flow now only 4800L/hr, but with a wavemaker (night mode, slow start, feed mode etc). What do you think about this option?
