I think my flowerpot coral is dying
.
Over the past 2-3 days I've noticed brown slime stuff go all around it. Also, the base is turning yellow, and it looks like it's dying...please help! Tell me if it's dying or not, thanks!

sounds like Cyano Bacteria. It is generally from high phosphates. Do a large (50%) water change and run some kind of phosphate removing media.

huh? cyano bacteria? what r u talking about? anyway, lets get back to the original post. how long hv u had the flowerpot. most dont do well long-term in captivity. what r ur water parameters? any pic? if its receding from the base, then most likely its a goner.

I've had my flowerpot almost 10 months or so... seems to be thriving in my tank and has moderate flow. It's not always out.. but its out everyday fully extended blowing in the waves.
Love my flowerpot coral even though everythign I've read since purchasing it says don't get one.

I know...I kinda wish I had read that before I got it...Mine doesn't come all the way out everyday either?????? Some days it will be all out, somedays 1/2 etc
So this is normal?

Mine DOES come out all the way everyday... just not ALL day long. Sorry if that sounded confusing. I can't tell if it's growing or not as it puffs way out from its base and theres no way to look under it way in the back of the tank. I'll see if I can't finda pic when it was up front in my tank and post :)
I lied... guess I need to take a pic of my flowerpot now

Mine hasn't been at all.... at first it was next to my carpet anemone with no problems... now it waves up into the xenia growing on the glass all the time with no problems. Luck or skill?

I usually have to do things wrong before I learn how to get it right.
I'm not that bright

sorry, notoriously hard coral to keep. Once it starts to die there isn't much you can do to save it. They also do not like super clean water

Hard to tell from the blurry pics. In the pics it just looks retracted like mine does on occasion... but how's it looking today?
Mine is fully extended for most of the day but not necessarily all day. I also have very nurtient rich water although my parameters are all at 0 on the tests.
What kind of filtration do you run? I have a sump, macro algae and skimmer and dose essential minerals, stronium, iodine weekly.

I don't have a refugium or a sump. I only have a 29G. But my flowerpot seems to be doing ok. But all my levels are 0 and I dose with many chemicals on a weekly schedule. I've had a few months. We'll see how long it last. Won't be the first thing I've bought that didn't make it. lol
