For all the women out there...

Just wondering what the "female" perspective on McCain's VP choice is?
My wife feels that it is an insult that he would try to pander to the female vote with a VP pick who is inexperienced.
She was actually leaning toward McCain until his pick.
BTW.........To all the SWF "Talking Heads" (you know who you are
) please do not turn this into a Obama/McCain bashing thread. I graduated kindergarten back in the early 70s and dont need to go back
.

I'm just wondering if your wife got that opinion herself or because of talking points on the media.
I for one thought that in the beginning, but the more I read into it and her, I realized that this was the pick that personified, what McCain is an outsider or a Maverick. This Palin, is not he tote the line party member, she is no Bush and she is not like any other Republican Obama proved that his intentions are the same old...same old with Biden.
And, not to be insulting to your wife, but she is being rather sexist herself thinking that this is just because she is a woman pick. Tell her to investigate the nominee before casting such a judgement on the pick.
Everybody is screaming for leadership outside Washington to lead this country. McCain gives it to you and you all whine!

i do have a question for our research junkies. i read that palin tried to get her ex brother in law fired from a position in the sheriffs dept. because he had tasered his 11 yr old stepson and threatened to kill her(palins) father and a violation of game laws , and when he only got suspended for 10 days (for all that) she threatened to fire the person that suspended him instead of firing him.?? does anyone know the real story?
oh and i'm all for it, if its ok for obamas people to get votes because hes black why not palin get votes for mccain cause shes a woman, besides she sounds like a no nonsense kinda person and i like that

Yes, that is what is in the investigation. Actually she fired the Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. The investigation is whether or not it had anything to do with firing this trooper or not.
However, I'm sure they will find nothing, but that goes right in there.
The governor revealed earlier this month that her director of boards and commissions, Frank Bailey, had made a phone call to a state trooper lieutenant in February complaining that Wooten still had his job. Palin said the call didn't amount to pressure for Wooten's dismissal.
``She's conceded that she had an aide that went off the reservation,'' Palin spokesman Bill McAllister told reporters today. ``But she took no action to pressure Monegan.''
French said Wooten was ``no Sir Galahad'' and had at various times been accused of drinking on the job, shooting a moose out of season and using a Taser on a 10-year-old nephew. He said Monegan's position was that the trooper had already been disciplined for those offenses.
The legislative probe of the Monegan case isn't connected to a separate, four-year federal investigation of alleged political corruption in Alaska. The federal probe has resulted in convictions of or guilty pleas from three state legislators, the chief of staff of Palin's predecessor and two executives of an oil-services company, as well as the indictment of Senator Ted Stevens.

Anyone else find it odd that a person signs up for a message board for a hobby website and only posts in political threads and forums

I've highlighted some of the typical "talking points" that I saw as I googled Palin....Google MAVERICK (news) and you come up with Palin...

How do you know my wife has not already investigated Palin? Because she has a opinion that differs from yours
...
I dont know if McCain has offered any "leadership" with Palin as a VP.
I personally am voting for McCain, but feel cheated by his nomination. There were MANY more experienced prospects out there who would be a better leader of the free world should the situation arise.

Thanks for a valid point and my wife agrees with the black vote issue...Maybe I can use that as a counterpoint to her issues with McCain's nomination.

Please show me where in the rules of this message board that says anything about not being able to post in the aquarium unless I post in the other forums?
BTW show me where I have posted only
in political threads
...I have made ~35 comments and 4 were in political threads (3 of those were in the same thread).

Please dont turn this into a childish name calling thread. I simply asked a question because my wife and i were having a conversation and I thought I could get a different way to approach her concerns.

beats me but there has been a few here or there.
A FEW WHAT ???

I am simply a quiet person or a person of few words. I actually have 3 SW tanks (135/29/10) and have been involved in SW tanks for ~10years. I got out of the hobby last year and forgot my PW.
I do alot of research/searching on this website for info, find what I need and go away.
Maybe if I had 500 post of "cool, looks great and you can't do that!!" I wouldn't be getting so much greif when I ask a question.

Sorry...The link works for me.

I was just trying to ask a question about a discussion I had with my wife and you questioned my intentions....
The link is a search result for you SN that brought up your last 500 posts. Of the 500 post around 475 were posts in the aquarium (300 or so were political) and about 25 were lighting forums.

And? Go back and search my first posts on the board. Guarantee you they weren't all in the aquarium and were a lot more substantial than posting some smileys.

So I guess it's OK to call my post count into question even though your 500 most recent
posts are EXACTLY what you had issues with mine for?
POT meet KETTLE...
Do you have any suggestions as to my original question?
If not please go back to your deep HOBBY related posts that you soooo frequently discuss..

I made my point, and I am done here. I'll let others make up their own minds. My post count and content demonstrate why I am here.
Have fun

I'm not knocking you, I was just saying there has been several people who came and posted in the aquarium say some outlandish things, then after a few weeks get bored and leave. So I wasn't sure why he was pointing you out? You're question imo is perfectly fine.

I personally (as a female) like McCain's pick for VP. She is very environmentally friendly which will help out the republicans and is a breath of fresh air to the same old same old. It is a complete double standard to criticize Mc for picking a young female VP when Obama picked...what...an older white male? It's the same concept. Both are just trying to appeal to more voters.
I also think it is terrible how she is being criticized for running for office when she has a baby at home that "needs to be taken care of." If it was her husband that was running, no one would have cared that they just had a child. Now THAT is sexism.
