Ya, I did not think it was. I was thinkinng abot some velvet thing I read about but could never find a pic of to be sure. I wish someone knew as it is bothering me deeply. He has been in the tank a week and I just noticedd it today. I dunno if it is part of his color change he does or what tbh.

Water perameter problems will cause this, also stress. Is it being bullied? Most likely it is due to water quality.

Forgive me if i am wrong but i am guessing it would be stress related . You said your nitrite is .05 and your amonia is .10 i'm thinking in a established tank those readings should be 0. And your ph is a bit high i believe. How long has your tank been set up?

It looks like Hyper-melaninization to me, which is a reaction to coral stings. He could have been stung before you got him. Why do you still have ammonia and nitrite?

2 months.
I did not want to add the fish yet but the LFS in springfield talked my wife into it. I said it was too soon but they showed her in the book its one of the hardiest fish immune to most all disease blah blah blah. ( myy son wanted it since before we got a fish tank )
I have tried 25 gallon W/C last friday im going to do another 20 gallon this weekend in my 75 gallon fowler tank. I have 75 to 80 pounds of LR and 60 pounds of LS. cleanup crew etc. my lfs drove two hours plus to come and see my tank ( not the guys who sold the fox to my wife) and said it looks awsome not a bit of deitrus on the bottom its crystal clear im doing everything right but obviously not if im not 0'ed out on those things.
I dunno what to do.
I have threee damsels in the tank one blue spot puffer 2 cleaner shrimp some turbos andd a mix off other snails etc one red legged hermit crab.

Any suggestions would be great and as far as thhe black spots what cann I do to help thhe lil guy its my sons fish and I dont want it to be the fish he had to flush.

How is the fish eating and acting? You can stop adding fish to the tank for awhile. That will allow the biological bacteria colonies to build. The tank is new. You have to let it stabilize.

Ok, so I got a couple more piccs these two are the only ones that came out decent..
It looks like their are less of them now than before but I still do not know what they are...
The fish is grazing off the algage I put into the tank and hang from the clip red and green is what they are plus he eats when I feed thhe mysis and flake food as well so he is eatig fine. I removedd the two jerkk damsels so maybe that will help with some stress but these spots are concerning me.

Sorry if I missed it but what coral do you have in the tank? i agree with Sep, looks like it got too close to somthing that "stung"it. I don't think you have a problem especially if it is still eating. Feed some food soake in garlic and in Selcon. You can even add a few drops of Selcon to the water and they will uptake it. These spots would not worry me too much at this point. Just make sure it is getting enough to eat.
Would like to know what coral you have though, including any anemones, Euphyllia or other LPS.
