Just wondering, does anyone have one in a reef tank or any experience with one in a reef? I have read that they pick at polyps of soft corals and may eat the polyps.
I had one for awhile before I decided it wasnt open water enough for me and brought it back 8 months later. Great fish, very passive and never bothered corals.
Kept one in a 55 not quite a year or so, never bothered the corals, any of them which included star and button polyps, frogspawn, anemone, leather corals, mushrooms.

OK NM where are you ?
I added one to my tank about a month ago to help keep valonia in check. It does not pick at any of my corals and gets along great with my other fish, but I have yet to see it eat any bubble algea.
Been out of town with the wife....we all gotta sneak away once in a while!!
Yes I did add a sweet 3" foxface lo a few months ago. I think its been a great addition...my primary motivation to consider one was reports that they would eat both bryopsis and valonia algaes. So far I have seen slight reductions in both...and on numerous occassions I've caught the foxface lo nipping at both. So that aspect has worked out fine...they do get a bit large so eventually mine will be moved to a larger display along with my hippo and coral beauty. The larger display is in the planning/funding stage but will happen long before size becomes a issue with my current fish.
Reports do indicate that they "can" be problematic with some corals but the same has been said about the coral beauty...and truth is neither have ever shown any interest in my collection of 'shrooms/polyps/zoos/softies/LPS/SPS ... or my squamosa clam.
Foxface is the first and only fish I have replaced since my cuke wipeout.....great reef fish IMO. Never have seen one eat valonia, but other algaes are a choice meal for them....great for botryocladia troubles depending on the fish. I believe just about every reef I own for the rest of my life will have a foxface.....I've had several, and they never touch anything they shouldn't.
