That is 100% correct. We have about 2 full sheets (4'x8') left and needed a way to recoup the $ that was spent on it. Plans are to have the acrylic cut with the laser, package them up into the smallest USPS $4.95 box that they fit in and list them on an auction site.
So the holes should be more than a half and closer to 3/4? What if the holes were 5/8"?
I still need how far apart the holes should be for adaquite flow between the frags. I am thinking that the bottom rack should be 3.5" for the notch to allow for as big as a 2" sand bed and still have room for flow under it. But how far from the surface should the second shelf be? 3", 4"?
Hey Al, care to draw this out in CAD?
No problem Monsi - just got home from a business trip in Virginia - I will do it tomorrow. Al

Shelf looks great. The notches for supports should be moved in, say inbetween the second and third holes for frags. The legs are too tall. The tall legs should be 8" tall and the short leg should be 4" tall. Other than that, it looks good.

I dont think the 8.5" will stick out of the water at the top. The only change I would make is take the top notch on the tall legs and put it below the bottom notch so that there are notches at the 7", 6", and 5" measurements. I dont foresee anyone using the shelf at 2" below the water line. The shelf looks perfect. Are all of these in the same CAD file? I would need that, CAD file, to send off to my friend so that he can cut it on the laser. Also, I will need your address Al so I can send you one of these as a thank you for doing the drawings.

Just got word yesterday that he cut one out and is sending it to me. I think he sent me a pic of it. Not sure though. I should have this by the end of the week.

Not quite the end of the week, but it arrived. I got 3 of these in and will be sending one out once I go to the post office. It is more wobbly than I had anticipated. I havent placed it into the 10 gallon tank for "fitness" but once it is in there (if it fits), it shouldnt be wobbly at all. Here are preliminary shots.

Once I get it into my 10 gallon tank, I will take more shots.

Looks big.....is it all made out of acrylic?
Yup, all acrylic. It was designed to go into a 10 gallon tank. Speaking of, here it is in the tank. Ignore the PVC and castle and sponge and rubble rock. This is my QT tank with a broken filter.

The filter's intake tube is pressing it against the front glass so with a different filter or different filter placement, it would fit just fine. The stands are on the middle cut-outs on the legs so that it can be adjusted up or down for each shelf. The legs dont fit in there quite as snug as I would have liked. To really make it stable and for easier placement into the tank, securing the legs with a little dab of silicone would be best. There is plenty of room on the top for tall pieces and plent of room on the sides for flow. Opinions?

as a side note, how many LEDs to make zoos grow in that tank with that stand? 12 or 24? Dont tell me 18 cuz then the math is all off, LOL. Looking to put together a DIY on the LEDs and need to know how many to get. I then will have to fogure out how to make them stand over the water.

24 with dimmable drivers would be good
wouldnt 24 be overkill? Don't ya think I can get away with 12? There is a (for me) big price difference between 12 and 24. 12 is I might be able to get them real soon. 24 is I have to wait until all bills are paid with tax returns, the summer vaca is scheduled and paid for, and then maybe a PC is purchased.
No other opinions on the stand in the tank? I would really like to hear from ya'll as I kinda need to know if this is good enough for ya'll to buy so I can maybe start selling them.

i would like to see a base put on the legs for your frag stands.
as for the leds, its really how you see it. if you want 24, it could be overkill depending on the type of optics you used which is why i recommended dimmable drivers, but you have better coverage. if i were to do it, id probably aim for 12 leds with t5 supplementation
