A leak under the baffles is no big deal. As long as your main panels are sealed good, you should be ok. The silicone will hold up for the baffles, as there is not much pressure on them, but it won't hold your main panel seams.
A leak in the baffles or "inside" of the actual sump is no big deal -- I have one myself -- the baffles just keep micro bubbles out which makes the seep irrelevent.
The actual boxed outside portion of the sump must be done with weld on -- and the thin strips of acrylic work wonders. "Aquarium Silicone" is for glass only -- it may hold acrylic in place but can't actually bond to it.
Just think of all the things you are learning by doing

I usually learn as I go as well

it is actually leaking outside of the tank... the problem is, the leaks is coming from where the baffles are so i cant attach a piece of acrylic because i cant get to that area... there is only like 1.5-2" between the baffles and my hand isnt that small... i know the silicone doesnt really "bond" to the acrylic but it seems to stick well enough to keep it from leaking (for now at least)... the weld is more than pleantly for the structual support i just needed to stop the leak and since i was stupid and didnt check the tank before adding the baffles i cant get to the area that it is leaking from... i will try to post a pic in a couple hours to make this more clear... thanks for the help btw...

You should be able to run a strip under it and just run in a bunch of weld on in there. If you attack it from both sides you should be fine I would think -- hopefully.

Hey jackri, I'm trying to fix a acrylic sump that came apart; got it "welded" back together with no outside leaks. However water is leaking around the baffles between two compartments. If I run weld3 up both side of the baffle using a find brush, will that hopefully seal the leak? TIA Scopus

Man this post wants me to build a new tank. The funny thing is tonight at 9:00pm my lfs is going to stop their sale on tanks. I can get a 125 for $200! If I didnt already have one I would have jumped on it and saved a $150. Keep up with the tread everyone is learning a lot. Thanks for the info.

I wouldn't worry about sealing the leaks around the baffles per say --- the baffles are meant to stop water but leaking around them won't cause them to be any less effective. As long as they are in place and hold tight any leaks around them should be minimal and really no big deal with all the other water that flows through it.
I'll try and get some new updated pics up shortly.

I've traded for some new frags this weekend, I'll see if I can't get pics up in the next day or two. Other than that the frag tank is doing great.
