Frequency of changing sump prefilter material?

Hey guys,
I'm wondering how often you guys that have sumps change your prefilter material? This is the first tank that I've had with a sump and I'm just not sure what the frequency is for that kind of stuff. I used to clean my canister fillter every 2 weeks, but it seems like the sump stays a bit cleaner for longer periods of time. Thanks....

I don't really have a schedule but typically I clean mine out every 2 or 3 weeks.

you might think about removing it all together. Its probably more trouble then its worth.

I removed mine in 1982 and never replaced it.

i used to use prefilter pads in my sump and risnse them out every 3days..then i thought what is the point and stopped using them. now my skimmer takes more stuff out and i dont have to worry about changing pads anymore.

I removed mine also and no problem.

When ever it gets dirty, about every two weeks.
