They protest the banks because of their part in the collapse of the housing market and the unscrupulous activities that led to that. And for their shenanigans, they get a bail out.
Hopefully, protesting government will show up via voting those responsible OUT. But, yes, our corrupt government should be on the chopping block as well. Government, after all, heard loud and clear that the citizens of the USA did not want bailouts. They did it anyway. Our founding fathers would roll over in their graves if they saw what had become of what they created.

seems to me the gov't could care less what the founding fathers wanted.if the power hungry gov't would just let the people take care of themselves this country would be what it once used to be.but no they have to get into every bit of our lives.all the gov't should be doing is our countries security(military) infrastructure(interstates roads and bridges and keeping the illigals out.they cant even do that right now

would there be protests if the government gave a family a million dollars that over extended itself? would thee protests be against the family or the government?

I imagine there would be a stink about both the family and govern. Govern throws freebies at people all the time. That is not really the point. There's no comparison.
Banks have a lot of money, BOA particularly was the largest bank in the country. Banks are directly responsible for the collapse of the housing market, required USA taxpayers to bail them out, then hesitate not in foreclosing on those US citizens whom they have wronged and who bailed them out.
Some here will always have their viewpoint not to be swayed. Too many other threads about this topic to really need to start it up again here.
Leave to the kid from England to keep us hopping, even when he's not here! LOL

funny thing is...I know of a guy, that had bought a house...then refinanced it for twice its value. after the refi, his family could barely make their bills and they were upside down on their house. total income was over 200 thousand a year. yet they were looking at bankruptsy. this was back in 2004 if i remember right. sad thing is...everyone knows this guy....the other sad thing is...in a sense they got a government bailout.
no one protested that...can anyone guess whom I speak of?

i remember the gov,t gave every family $1400 a few years ago and everyone i know was happy about it.but it didnt stimulate the economy.the first bail out would have gave each family $50,000.but instead it went to the banks and auto dealers.
i dont know who you are talking about as for the house

Banks have a lot of money,That is why they are called "Banks"

This opinion is based on a complete misunderstanding of of how things work. Businesses exist to make money. Businesses play by what ever rules are set up. If the government sets up unfair rules, or rules that have unintended consequences, business plays by those rules. If government sets up well thought out rules, businesses play by those. BUSINESS HAS NO CHOICE IF THEY WISH TO EXIST, IT REALLY IS NOT SUCH A DIFFICULT CONCEPT TO GRASP. Government, headed by Barney Frank, DEMANDED UNDER THREAT OF RETRIBUTION that banks grant loans that would otherwise not occur. Banks then bundled their losses to stem the damage, according to the rules of the game. When the house of cards fell, government blamed the easy target whose crime was to play according to those rules they themselves put into play. It really isn't that difficult to understand. The government bailout was an admission that they F'd up badly.

Government creates rules to make it super easy to get a home loan to the point lending standards don't need to be met. Then when everything collapses the banks are demonized and people look to the government to save us. The credit shortage in this country isn't the real problem, it's an IQ shortage among idiots like the occupy protestors who are too dense to figure out what the real problem is.
