frozen shrimp?

i just added saltwater to my tank. i am getting 75lbs of LR and 50lbs of LS tomorrow to add to my tank? now how many frozen shrimp do i add to it and what sizes to start the cycle?? i have a 55G tank.

another tip. put it in a net of some kind... makes it a lot easier to take it out. it will fall apart.

BINGO. The net is a good idea or just let it rot away.

You can also put a few pieces of flake food, thatll work too...OR, if you have live rock and live sand, just put that in, and itll cycle faster..that to me, is the best way...

yeah if you are getting LR and LS then you should not need the shrimp IMO.

hmmm.. ok i just put in total weight of 140lbs of florida LR and LS. not exactly sure what is what. the LS is only about 1 inch in height though.. maybe you experts know better..
i have a freshwater tank also and my 1 fish died. can I toss that in the new SW tank or do i need shrimp?
since i have LS and LR do i not need shrimp or anything else?
if not, what do i do now? sit back and wait? how long?

If you just put the LR and LS in then make sure you have some water movement (power heads) and yeah, sit back and wait for about 4 weeks.
That's the short answer... do a search for 'The Cycle' and you'll learn more.

I agree with the Saltman. Don't add anything. Your live rock will provide everything. I'd suggest pulling of any sponges you see though. They've been exposed to air and will die. The odor of a dead sponge will knock your socks off.
