Does anyone know if SWF dropped the fuel surcharge by FED EX? Now that fuel has gone done 50%. Hard to buy from them if its still in effect.
Please let me know

I think it is still in effect. And I dont have many people with tanks to go in with me. If I can add only 1 fish at a time I cant exactly buy alot.

yea, I'm in the same boat. I started putting together an order but saw the S&H was more than what I was ordering. So I'm waiting for a really big order or a change in S&H. Unfortunately none of my friends are into SW.

I don't think they dropped it, but it looks like they have lowered it. This is from an email I got from SWF.com about an hour ago.
$5.00 off Shipping through November! We hate Shipping Charges as much as anyone...so we are reducing the Fuel Surcharge portion of the shipping fees by $5.00 from our September levels. We realize that the economy is tight for everyone right now, so we're hoping this will make things a little bit easier for everyone. These reduced charges will be in effect through November, and we'll review what FedEx charges us again then.

I've got the same thing going on as you guys. I have been wanting to get a couple of butterflies for my tank for a while, and while at my LFS the other day I asked about them and both are available from their wholesaler. SWF charges $20 & $23 for the ones I want and the LFS told me that they would sell them to me for $25 each. So even though it's $7 more for the fish alone, it's a better deal once you tack on the $30 shipping from SWF.

I was just thinking the same thing last night. If FedEx is still charging SWF the fuel surcharge they are ripping them off. Gas is cheaper right now around here than it has been in YEARS! I wanted to order a better cleanup crew myself but when the FS fee and all was as much as what I wanted to order I had to pass.

check your profiles. if you put where you're located at, maybe someone might read this and say "hey, wanna join together on an order". i've done that with a few people.

They lowered the shipping $5....I pay it cause the last fish I got from my lfs had some lymphocystic stuff....so far everything I have gotten from swf has been excellent and well worth it...I just wait until they have a great sale, or I need a few things...I am sure there is no one by me here in SE OKlahoma....LOL

Fuel surcharges are being lowered but the average is still coming in around 26%.
I have a trucking company and while the prices are lower for gasoline, keep in mind diesel used to be the cheapest fuel. The diesel prices are still inflated.
I have not heard of a single transportation company that has dropped it's fuel surcharge completely or are even considering it, the prices are still way too high.
I have links to the national chart that we use to compute our charges but think it would probably be removed.

I agree and honestly I have no idea what the price of jet fuel is. I buy quite a bit of C16 race gas for my cars (which might be jet fuel?) and while it did go up quite a bit even that has gone back down some. We aren't blaming SWF, I just think with the way the economy is Fedex/UPS/DHL/whoever are going to continue making every single $ they can right now and them not reducing the fee even more is BS.

the thing to take into acct lkgr, is that diesel fuel, while having dropped, hasnt experienced near the drop that gas has, in some areas, diesel is still 4.25+ per gallon, so, until diesel, which is a bi-product of producing gasoline, is dropped significantly, the fuel surcharges are not going to drop

I seriously doubt the surcharge is due to diesel fuel. I would much more suspect it to be due to the jet fuel for the overnight delivery. They don't charge you a FS fee if you go ship something via ground shipping.

ups does, my mom's business ships via ups on a daily basis, and they're still payin the same fuel surcharge they were paying when prices spiked up over 5 bucks a gallon for diesel, and all of her shipping is via ground
