I've heard Lights of America lights do quite well for refugiums, 75 watt 5500K I think... I don't know if that would be too much.

Just a quick observation from your picture. If you really put the baffles exactly like you have drawn them, the water levels will not be exactly as you drew (drawed?) them. The first and second cambers will have much lower water levels. Unless of course you just fill the whole thing with water. But I really hope that this isn't also your sump if you decide to do that. It could be very prone to floods and varying water levels if that is the case.
Correct me if I am wrong (someone?), but I don't think you need the first set of baffles. They wont slow down the water since your pump's flow rate and/or tank's overflow will determine the flow rate. Baffles just prevent air bubbles from going to the next area. But you would want the second set. It also wouldn't hurt to design them with using 3 stages like you have the first set, especially if you take the first set out.

A 500 watt Halogen will grow Algae fast but it will put out about the same amount of useful light as 3 of those 20 watt bulbs but use a LOT more electricity. Most of the emission from halogen is in the form of heat.

a 60 watt incandescent will put out about the same amount of light as a 9 watt flourescent.

I have a proclear 75 wed/dry (that i removed the bioballs from) with the skimmer that gives water to the fuge....if i shut the power off of course the syphons keep syphoning.....but both stop before either sump/fuge flood...but thanks for taking that into consideration
Where can a guy like me get those lights of america lights?
You see...being a college graduate (who is currently seeking employement) puts me on a bit of a budget (very tight budget).....
wait.......tight budgets arn't cool:nope:

I did one like that once...
Definitly want more than the 20 watts light...
I thought 10 gallons was a bit small for the 20 Nano tank it supported...
I learned a lot about flow, Nutrient removal, Macro needs and it gave me a place to hide a bit of equipment...
But if I did it again (and I have :D ) I would suggest..."Bigger Is Better"

How much light do we all recommend for the fuge then? I have added my 13watt PC back on to the tank (which looks really janky) but it will have to sufice until i can afford more lighting...
please let me know

For killer Macro growth or even a Xenia fuge I'd say 55 or 65 watt PC...
You can get a single 24" 65 watt for like $60 or I have seen an affordable 20" 2X36 watt PC for under $50 with 6500K bulbs...

The Lights of America Lights might be what i'm talking about, nto sure. I've heard that for plant growth, the spiral PC lights that go into a standard incadescent socket are great. I'm pretty sure it's true, and I'm probably going to do that with my fuge when I do them mainly for the same reason - results for low $$$. just need a reflector from whatever.
My 2 cents, not positive though
