You'll get closer to 300gph with the Mag 5 if you use 1" line...3/4" is easier to fit but you cut flow to 270...
Most HOB overflows consist of two "chambers" an inner and outer with a "U" tube connecting the two (or the connection will be part of the "box" in the case of the CPR)
Water enters the inner box (also sets the "level" in the tank) goes through the U tube to the outer chamber where it then goes down a standpipe/bulkhead/hose to the sump...
