There are about 6 mouth openings on this guy. Should I just pick one and place the piece of squid over it and wait and see? Aslo should this be done daily? Is mysid (very small) also ok to try.

Is it in the 110? I think I'd put it back to where it was if so and you are going to have only 440 vho on the tank. I'd also use a turkey baster and just gently blow some mysis, cyclopeeze or other fine meaty food over it when you are feeding the tank. It really doesnt' look that bad, just bleaching. I think with the lighting and feeding it will be very good looking brain soon.

Thanks wrasecal, I will be installing the pc's into the hood also. So this will give me 660 watts. I was thinking baster but wasn't sure if it would work. I just put a peice of swuid by one of the mouths the squids gone and the mouth is open hopefully it ate before something else got it.

Meaty foods and a soft sand bed away from sharp rocks. I saved one from a LFS looked like all skeleton with a bit of green here and there (boy what was i thinking). I dont have a before pic but here is one 6 weeks later.

I'd do the sandbed with 660 then. Sounds like it ate, unless you have pesky cleaner shrimp like I do that steals it's food. Did it bloat up any after the feeding? I think it's going to be beautiful. Keep us posted.

as for eating get yourself some stainless steal tweazers and small chunks of food. the reason you hve to watch the coral is because of oportunistic shrimp and hermits coming along. i used to feed him at night as well. it helps to eliminate the fish from the equation due to their sleeping.
as for multiple mouths so long as they are connected to one body the whole coral will benefit. i would certainly try and space out the feedings ove the mouths though. maybe will ensure a more even recovery. but im pretty sure that if one mouth gets it the other X mouths will too.

one warning eaglefan. don't torch your other corals with the new light. you need to acclimate them to the stonger light gradually.

I planned on using the vho's only for the first week then turning on the pc also. How far away from the water should I mount the lights right now I have the pc's sitting on the glass top?

if at all possible go top less. a couple inches off the water is good. i have my pc's about 3 inches off on legs. with the vho's 4-6 inches would be good. as for the new lights just go with a shorter photo period of say 6 hours as opposed to 8-10 or whatever you do now. they should be ok. increase it by an hour each week till you get back to what you want. its the safest thing you can do without risk of bleaching any of your corals.
a note on the topless thing. i used to have a top on my tank and once i went topless was actually quite pleased with how the tank looked without the top. it seemed to be lit much better than it was. granted i loose a hell of alot of water each day but i think its was for the better.

For metallic brains is any meaty food ok. or does it have to be like krill or octopus? Also I thought since I have the CorallLife Aqualit PC's
2 day 65watt
2 attinic 65
of course 10K and a 40 flourecent which I hope to change with either a 50/50 or a another day lamp, anyways, that I could put my brain on the sand bed. well the lfs said put it middle to top for placement. Are they wrong?

I would stick to animals of marine origin. A Brain will eat a piece of Chicken but I think a piece of seafood would be a lot better.
