I saved a bird once from a cat’s jaws. The cat played with it but didn't kill it for like over an hour. You know, normal cat behavior, I got tired of hearing the bird cry so I took it away from my cat and released the bird it looked upset but unharmed no puncture wounds.
A vet told me later that it made no difference, the bird would die anyway because of the saliva thing. An Amazon parrot is a 15 inch bird with a can opener for a face, kitty would learn fast that bird was not a toy…but if the saliva is deadly, I don’t want to let spit from a kitty kill a $2000.00 parrot.
