12 posts later and still no answer. Interesting..only the new fish are stressed, the clowns and damsel that was already with him are fine. So it makes wonder how he acclimated them....After all it's a 90g tank and in that amount of water for 3 little cardinals, a young tang, two small clown fish and a small damsel...ammonia would climb slow not instantly. Since everything is reading good for water tests, and only new fish are affected, that leaves improper acclimation.
Rgardless, we seem to be talking to ourselves.
Seriously? The last post was at 11pm and now it's 9 am? Should I have stayed up to post back? lol
My cousin used my account to post. She bought my 90 gallon from me because I had to take both my tanks down to redo my hardwood floors. The clowns and damsel are mine and separated from the rest in breeder cups for now till my tank is ready for them again.
She says this morning the levels are still fine and she did a water change last night to be sure. The yellow tang is still puffing but the others are getting better. Maybe it was acclimation, since my fish are fine. She didn't drip, she slowly added water to the bag over a couple hours. I'm sure they were stressed too, being sent up to MN is a long haul for a few little fishies. Maybe it was a combo of all that.
I will also make sure she has a powerhead pointed upward for waves. Thanks for the advice!

Meo,
I don't think the CO2 builds up enough during overnight shipping to cause this, mine took about a week ina 10 gallon QT with no aggitation.

In my defense..I'm a nightshift person...late means nothing to me...sorry, However if my fish were dying...sleep would not be a part of my thoughts..I would be up till the last little fishy died as I watched helplessly... But that's just me. Also I didn't know it was another person till now.

when i turnd on my uv my flame did the same thing i waited all night till he passed doing test every hour

I had this problem when I first started out, and I had a powerhead breaking the surface of the water but it was only in half of the tank, the half that the clowns were always at then when I added a yellow tang it stayed on the other end of the tank where the surface was not being broken, and was at the top alot tring to get air so I placed another power head on the other end of the tank pointing up to break the water surface on that side and the next day the tang fine and still is to this day, I dont think my problem was acclination because I acclinated him for over two hours, my GPH turnover was not enough.

Do you know what the salinity was in the shipping water was ? What do you keep your tank at? I've had shipping water come in at 1.019.
What is your tank temp?

I'm posting for my cousin... Her salinity was about .o20, not sure what the shipped water was. Her temp was like 78. Her remaining fish have survived and water levels look good, so sounds like things have cleared up... yay! She is having much less stress and able to enjoy the tank. Thanks for the advice everyone!

".020" is an acceptable way to say "1.020"...nobody I know says "one point oh two oh"...we simply say "oh two oh", or even "two oh", which BTW is acceptable for a FO setup. At lower salinity, dissolved O2 is higher, and while 1.020 isn't hyposalinity, many pathogens don't handle lower salinity as well as they do the mid 20's.
