Much better!!! You will get a lot more growth now. If it keeps growing red or brown, keep cleaning it every three days!

I just dont understand how dome forums can be so active and this one is almost slowed down to a halt. :cry:

I know its a shame this one was jumping for a while now its a crawl. I don't really understand it. though in part it probably has a lot to do with the sites rule about links to other sites. people like to just link info instead of typing it out every time, and half the info is on "competitor sites" so you cant link to it. and you can't luink to equipment on other sityes even if its not something swf sells. I'm not blaming SWF for their policy I just think its a turn off for a lot of users. almost like some of the "overmoderated" forums die a slow death from being too restrictive.

I think this forum is dying a slow death too. It is a shame. The over restriction really is hurtin the forum. Im actually considering finding a new forum home. This is just ridiculous.

so over the last day and a half I have been dosing increments of alk booster (every couple hours I do a small dose so the alk has been climbing slowly but steadily), since after doing some research kalk wasnt going to bring up my alk in a reasonable manner without spiking my PH, I have brought my Alk back up to 7 I hope to have it up to about 8 in the next day. I dont want to go too fast and cause any problems.

Yeah, when i adjust my alk, i usually do it by 1dKH per day.
Kalk will mess with your pH some but not a whole lot and it will also increase both ca and alk over time. Id drip it in at night when the pH is low.

the new version of the algae screen is showing good signs of growth. after only a couple days there is a greenish tinge to the entire "new" side of the screen. we shall see how it works out in the long run, if it is enough to eliminate the remainder of the cyano present in the tank.

I like the look of one big island and one smaller island. I think that would look sweet. Plus, I like the negative space it creates in the sand. Gives some room for a nice brain or two in the sand.
Are you going for any particular coral theme in the 125g?? SPS, Zoa's, LPS, or softies??

going all out mixed reef in the long run. primarily softies and lps to start then trade my way into some SPS, if I can get my alk and cal stable. evey tank is always different for me it totally depends on how the tank acts. since I am trying out some new methods I am not sure what the ultimate direction will be.

That is a great way of doing it IMO. Why try to force something if it is not going to work. Let the tank decide the direction.

Look on CL to see if you can find some for cheap... are you part of a local reef club? Most of my members sell some of their rock for 2$ a #...just bout 100# at that price between 3 different people...
