Well, after having my second fish go carpet surfing, again rescued it before it died I realized I need a lid of some sort for this tank. I am not killing fish this way. so I went to home depot and picked up one section of egg crate to cover one half of the tank, now I need to rethink MY return lines so they are amenable to creating a cover for the second half of the tank. I will post some pictures once I get it figured out.

going out of town for work.... for a week. this is always nerve wracking for me because a few times this have gone haywire with my tanks in the past when I was out of town. I have it all set up and topped off so nothing needs to be done except feeding. I am just a bit worried. I wish one of you guys were close spo you could drop by and check on my tank for me.

Set up a webcam!! I have heard of a few folks doing this. You can monitor it... BUT if anything goes wrong you just have to sit there and watch... This could help you coach the person you have watching the tanks. Just an idea.
I had an unemployed buddy who helped when ever I went out of town, but now he is working again.. But he still lives with his parents so he helps after work. He is not a hobbyist, but knows enough to help out.
Good luck!!!

no tragedies while I was away this time. showing a bit of green algae growth all over the rocks despite the algae scrubber and skimmer. I am going to have to step up my water changes a notch.
here are a couple pictures form this morning

Rescue fragging: as you can see in the pictures my tiny monti cap is plauged with aip it came with them, I didnt want to frag it right away untuill it showed signes of growth. now it is growing the leading edges are light colored and regrowing over some dead spots. time to lose the aip. for some reason they loaded in the wrong order but you get the idea.
