Gold in tank

At first I thought the OP wondered if he could work in the tank while wearing gold rings, etc, but now I wonder if a hidden/surprise Christmas gift is the intent. "Hey honey, I bought something new for the tank! Come look!"
AFAIK, gold is fine in SW, I do not take off my rings and bracelets when I work in my tank.

Thanks for the welcome. Actually my brother committed sucide 15 years ago, we laid his ashes to rest in the ocean. Since then I have moved north, far from the ocean. So it's been bugging me to have "my own ocean" again. It would be my shrine to my brother. Well I have his 10kt gold necklace that the clasp just broke on and I wanted my "froggy" "darwin" to keep his eye on it. I would just fix it and keep wearing it if it would upset "my ocean".

It hard to lose a brother, in such a hard way too. I lost my older brother a few years ago, Heart attack. Sorry I can't help, I have no idea how well gold holds up long term in saltwater.

Just a thought
If you have a craft store nearby, or go online and get one of those make your own snow globe kits.
Example: spread glue on the base and dust with sand, glue a rock, maybe a dried or plastic star fish, a sea shell and Froggy. You can use snow globe “snow”, glitter or even coarse sand, anything small that floats then settles or nothing at all..add some distilled water and put it together according to instructions..making a nice memento for you to keep of your brother.

Just a thought
If you have a craft store nearby, or go online and get one of those make your own snow globe kits.
Example: spread glue on the base and dust with sand, glue a rock, maybe a dried or plastic star fish, a sea shell and Froggy. You can use snow globe “snow”, glitter or even coarse sand, anything small that floats then settles or nothing at all..add some distilled water and put it together according to instructions..making a nice memento for you to keep of your brother.

I dont know what the affects of gold would be in the water. We do know other metals can be very harmful if introduced. So with that in mind here is my suggestion to take all doubt away and do what you want to do. Find you a small display case, clear of course. Place the same kind of sand you have in the bottom of your tank, assuming you have sand, in the case. Then put the bracelet in the case and seal the top with an aquarium safe silicone. Then you could mask the appearance of the to of the case with sand or another object. In my minds eye this would look pretty good without worrying about the metal in the tank. Hope that helps or at least gives you an idea to move forward. Good luck.

If the cents are pre-1960 then sure. Otherwise it's more of a Zinc dip than a copper dip. One serious problem is measuring a good dosage of course.

One problem with the copper penny idea is that it's impossible to measure the exact dosage which is required for the E.R. tank.
