Hey campbell. I think a goldflake is a far better looking fish. As far as hardiness I have to disagree and say a goldflake is hardier if kept with passive tank mates. Try your bandit friend for a goldflake if you want a good price. Regards, Tim
CC, I would vote Goldflake but the adult Personifer is cool as well....AquaKnight, I forget, is Johnny Walker Blue the really really good stuff? I actually have some 18 year JW upstairs, I think its Black
I went with the Goldflake. I have been looking for a good size one for a while now to hang with the other angels in the tank.
The personifer is a great fish and will definitely put one in the bigger tank.
As for the clarion, I had one in QT at the distributor from the original batch that died from Marine Velvet. Since getting my hands on that one I have been gun shy. I am also noticing the price dropping dramatically. THere are stores unloading them now for less than $2K.
That will be my final fish...some day
KJR, yea, blue is the 'top' of the line, $400 for a 1.5L/$20 for a glass at most places. Black is gooood stuff too.
Campell, good choice, that is true about sizes on this guys. BTW, how good of deal is a 'smoking deal?' I found one locally for half of a certain LA/DD site. Is smoking significantly better then that?
LOL!!! $225 is a great deal. WHat size is it? Usually the ones that I see for that price are 2". The one that I am getting is just under 5".
I will post pictures when I get him. I wish I had my bigger tank cause I think that the Personifer and the Goldflake would make a great team!!!

You guys decide. I have an order for a Personifer, but he has offered me a Goldflake (4") for an insane price.
Thoughts?
I love this, we decide what do do with your $$$!!! You know these fish better than anyone; but I did hear (from someone I trust) that the goldflakes that are on the market now are really exceptional fish. Since I retired to become a full-time single Dad, I'm staying away from the top-shelf fish, but still like to talk to old friends about them. They have a couple Hawaiians, and I REALLY like to buy Hawaiian or Australian fish whenever I can. The last goldflake I looked at was from Christmas Island and they are sure becoming a Mecca for well-handled fish too; as well as maybe having the best bonefishing spot on the planet.

Personifer, and I'll send you money+personal commission for the Goldflake.
To be honest (not to offend any personifer owners), your comparing Jack Daniels to Johnny Walker Blue label.
You can't compare Tennessee sour mash to scotch! Thats like comparing Clarions to damsels!

Perfect. More or less 4". They have it in with their coral tanks. I would snatch it up, but this week, rent's due. But my Best Buy is coming so maybe lmao!
Yes there is a Hawaiian contact i have introduced to many people who are amazed with the quality and price. If you keep looking and are patient those top shelf fish become in reach for us regular folk. Regards, Tim
HAHAHA! No not business trip. My wife and I were cruzing though ***** for some stuff and I saw the Salfin in a tank with a Yellow tang!! They were brutally beating each other.
The yellow looked really bad (torn fins and skinny). The Salfin was plump as can be but had the bad HLLE. So I got him for $17 and he has been a great fish in my QT for 2 months now.
