What is a hardy beginner coral that I can start out with. I have a 90 RR tank with 6 T5 bulbs driven by icecap 660's. Thanks!

I would stay away from Xenia. It spreads too quick and will take over your tank! Go with shrooms, zooanthids, toadstool.. anything soft.

I'd skip the xenia. It has a stranglehold in my 55, no matter how often I remove it comes back in force. I'd say softies are the "easiest" in general.

In general I would agree

You can get just about any softy as a first coral.

LOl....I have to agree...sort of...Xenia has never "Taken Over" in my tanks...I can not keep it in my 225g YET I have other corals that are doing great...I do have 2 small bunches in my 54g....but they are not taking anything over....

I think that xenia is one of my favorite corals... it is cheap and very entertaining to watch as it opens and closes with its claw like structures... I like corals that do something... or look like it is doing something... zoa are cool b/c they open and shot... also bubble coral is nice too and/or any other type of bubble like tenacle coral.. They are most amusing to watch...
Stay away from the coral that you have to feed all the time... My scolynia died after a couple of weeks... good thing I won it.. but it was still worth a pretty penny...

i would go with either a shroom or a leather (ie a colt or finger) they tend to be really hardy and easy to care for. zoos seem to be a hit or miss, same with the xenia.

Leathers and colts get really big and overgrow in the tank. A small tank can't handle it...Xenia and mushrooms are easier to frag.
