Sorry for the delay, we had to make some emergency cruise arrangements for our corvette club, one of the members lost his family and we pulled 54 Corvettes together to cruise by his house for support!
I only have a couple of pictures to update, the new gold rim tang is doing great, eating like a pig. The emeralds are fun to watch too....
Found a sally molt

Here she is cleaning whatever she can find on one of the pencil urchins.

Gold Rim Tang and it's about 2.5 inch's long.
You can see the peppermint shrimp in there condo behind her.

One of the new rocks I added

I rearranged all the rocks and added about 20 more pounds the other day, and I picked up some black cloth for a background to get rid of the ugly one we tried.

The algaescrubber is going ok, water params are still the same but I found out the calcium is way low (240) so I picked up some stuff to help raise it along with a 25 gallon water change.

Your tank looks really nice!
I would be really careful with that tang. Doesnt look like a cheap one either. Your tank, being as new as it is, doesn't have the algae needed for the tang to live off of. I would keep a constant algae sheet in the aquarium for him.

Thanks Bandit, the tang is doing good so far. I have been hanging some algae for her to eat every other day, she cleans it up pretty good.
I have noticed some very small white dots on her, nothing on the clowns. It's on the tangs face and the front of the fins, any idea if this is normal?
Best description I can give is its like small sand stuck to her!

It could infact be sand particals that are on it but it could also be Ick. This could eventually kill the Tang if you let it get bad enough. Your options are QT the tang, treat with copper based medicine, or do Hyposalinity. Do research on it or just do a search for ick based threads and you should be able to find an answer soon.

I may have jumped the gun a little, I noticed one of my crappy powerheads spitting out microbubbles, since I swapped it out the tang seems to be spot free now...
Thanks for the input, I was afraid it was ick, and started to lower the salt level, I got down to about 1.15 before I noticed the bubbles, So tomorrow/today I will start raising it back up slowly!!!

So how about an update with tons of pictures?
I had ich, I lost all the fish...

After tons of research I finally decided that the best course of action was to go fishless for 5 weeks.
So after 5 weeks here is the final rack scaping and a fishless tank

Some of the cleanup crew is still there:
1 Sally Light Foot crab
1 Fancy Nassarous snail
3 Emerald crabs
1 Peppermint Shrimp (the other 4 became food for the crabs)
about 15 Hermit crabs
2 Pencil Urchins
Several feather dusters
So how about a lot of pictures?
Fancy Nassarous Snail

This is how big the sucker is!

One Mushroom

Some Zoo's

Montipora

So right after Thanksgiving we ran to the LFS to pick up our new ich free fish.
2 False Percula Clowns
1 Yellow Tang
And we couldn't resist buying a RBTA for the clowns to play in.
Here it is right after I put it in the tank, it opened up beautifully and the clowns were immediately interested in their new home.

The Anemone is about the size of my open hand, the clowns getting closer.

And then the RBTA decided to play shy and crawled around behing the rock for a week..... really!
But the clowns finally hosted the Anemone, now they only swim out to catch a bite of food then they dive right back in.

Who's that peeking out????

Hey it's yeller!! My wife named it Daisy!
You can also see where the Anemone went to hide ....FOR A DAMN WEEK!

Peek a Boo

Swim out, grab a bite, swim right back! Big Chicken!!!

Here's the funny part, whenever we get close to the tank, she goes and hides with the clowns.

One week later the RBTA decides to start moving, first adventure was to crawl under the rock through a hole and around the front side.

But it didn't stop there, it kept working it's way around to the very same spot it just left.
Amazing how far around it stretched.

The two clowns catch up and are wondering why their home is moving.

This whole move lasted about an hour.

The little black spot in the middle of the picture is the hole the RBTA crawled through.

The clowns are probably thinking, "hey, this is a good spot!" but it crawled on around the back anyway.

The next day after lights on, the RBTA crawled out front and has decided to stick around in full view for now.
We have fed it twice, small pieces of silversides and some pieces of cut up raw shrimp. Hopefully it will split and we will have two...

The next 2 pictures are my algae scrubber, I get about a handful of algae off of it every week, so far the water levels are staying almost perfect with just this scrubber and no other filtration or a skimmer running!!!

beautiful tank...you should consider setting up a quarantine tank so that you can keep an eye on new additions and make sure that they are healthy before adding them. I have a LFS guy that actually quarantines things for me, but I am still setting up a 30 gallon QT tank...once I have reached the end of my stock list and no longer really need the QT, I will turn that 30 into a tank for something cool (mantis shrimp, try my first reef, clowns/anemones, who knows!!)

The LFS I found has guaranteed no ich, all of their tanks are treated with copper and he won't sell a fish unless it's been in there for a couple of weeks. It's not a big store and you can see they really care about their tanks.
I know I'm taking chances again, but I feel they know what they are doing so I feel I'm in good hands.

Thanks Fret, I'll be happier when the coraline spreads more.
Now I just need to figure out what the next fish additions will be, thinking of an Achilles Tang, Chevron Tang, or a Blonde Naso Tang.
Does anyone know if you can put a Yellow and a Purple Tang together in the same tank?

I don't know much about tangs, I have all nanos so I've never really had to study them much, although the Achilles Tang is by far my fav of them all, color wise. lol

Acanthurus Monroviae
Acanthurus Japonicus / White Face
Acanthurus Maculiceps
And a purple tang
A little different than the Achilles / Naso / Chevron that everyone else has for sale!
