2.5 months old, coughing and snuffling :(
those aspirators are absolute junk...
luckily she doesn't have a fever, but hearing her cough, then cry because she doesn't understand, is heartbreaking.

Dude I feel your pain. Actually I also have a sick baby right now. Just keep the humidifier running in her room, give her lots of baths and baby tylenol can help periodically. I don't remember how old your daughter is but I let mine suck on popsicles (which she loves).
Keep her inside the house and get ready for some sleepless nights, (just coming off one myself). Good luck.

Oh my goodness, poor baby...
Were you sick and then she got sick, or did she get a cold on her own?
i was sick all last week. i slept in a seperate room, i didn't touch her whatsoever. friday i was feeling 98%, so my wife asked for help because she'd been doing everything with the baby all week all by herself. so i fed the baby, changed her diaper a couple times, and such. saturday morning she started getting stuffy.

For that age group there really isn't much you can do but make sure that when she sleeps, the head part of the crib is elevated. Don't give any Tylenol or Motrin unless your doctor says it's OK. The dosage for a baby that young can be very difficult. It is a combination of age and weight.
Also you can add a humidifier in the room. We have the Vicks system in our twins room (do not use the Vick vapors though) and that helps them breath when they are stuffy. Also what you might want to do is use nasal drops and then suction with the aspirator.

oh, kaitlyn LOVES the nasal drops...
she squirts them back out her nose LOL.
we have a humidifier, and have the bed elevated. problem is she is such an active sleeper (legs, arms, etc) and she's almost flipping over by herself, that she keeps sliding down the mattress. i woke up every 45 minutes to her crying cause her head bumped up on the crib, or her arms were through, etc.

Have you thought on putting one of those sheer bumper guards which will prevent her from sticking her arms and legs through the bars?
I'd try to swaddler her really snuggly. Ours stayed swaddled for a good 3-4 months during the night. They fought it at first but would settle down really fast. I remember how painful for me it was to try to keep them all snugg because the arms and legs just were all over the place

she hasn't been swaddled in at least a month. she ALWAYS got her arms out, no matter how tightly we swaddled her. so we figured, why fight with the blankets/swaddlers. she's in sleep blankets now so her arms are free.
we just got one of those breathable baby bumpers on thursday and haven't installed it yet.
btw, she's walking if we hold her up :)

Doctors will not perscribe any OTC's anymore due to too many parents ODing the kids without even realizing it. Best you can do is use the humidifier, like previously mentioned and keep using that bulb syringe if baby has nasal congestion. Believe me, I know how you feel. Back in Jan/Feb when my youngest was only 2-3 months old, she was very sick. I about freaked! But doctor said it wasn't serious, so we just had to wait it out. I hope all turns out fine for you as well.

you probably already know this but just in case. make sure if you have ceiling a/c vents make sure they're not pointed at her. i had similar issues when my son was a baby and i did pretty much what your doing. elevate the mattress. humidifier. i also used saline nasal drops and the aspirator. as with swf tanks patience is key. of course unless it gets really bad. just call the pediatrician and ask any questions and tricks, sometimes they have a trick you wouldnt think of.

Another thing that kinda follows the humidfire idea is to get the shower going really hot so there is lots of steam. Then take the baby in the BATHROOM , not the shower . Strip em down to just a diaper and just sit in there for a while with them . It will help loosen it up too .

Try not to get too stressed. Unfortunately this is the first of many illnesses that you'll go through. You are probably taking this harder than her.

if her cough begins to get 'chesty , or rattely' pat her back and her sides and chest to loosen the congestion while you are steaming to make it easier for her to cough the junk out poor little boo ,we will pray for her

dr said to use triaminic chest and nasal congestion, but very very little amount (only a couple drops). other than that and something to help with a diaper rash that isn't going away she's gonna be fine.

Yeah, she'll be fine. You on the other hand will be up at 3:00am, 4:30am, 5:00am and 6:00am.
Maybe I'll PM you when my sick one gets up just to compare notes.

Infant tylenol is fine for her age group. Its in a concentrated form. Just follow the box for her weight and use the enclosed dropper. The only reason dr.s started stopped recommending the OTC products was because people were not using the enclosed syringes and kids were getting overdosed. My pediatricians have never recommended using anything buy tylenol for medicines. They have always warned to stay away from the cold medicines under the age of two. When my kids had a diaper rash we made a paste using Aquafor and mylanta original. You just combine a little of each and mix together. Works great. Sometimes a diaper rash that is not going away can be caused by yeast, in which case a prescription cream would be prescribed. This doesnt usually happen unless they have been on antibiotics. Good luck!
