got this 94 by 30 by 41 tall yesterday.
i plan to build a home literally across the street by the winter.i plan an inwall with a room behind it for all the other stuff like the mixing tank and qt .i need to polish out some scratches and plan to paint the sides and back black.i want to remove the two huge overflow boxes and just plug the return holes and use just the 1.5 inch holes for the durso.i figure i will foam the pipes and glue some shelf rock to it for some frags.i got all the bulk heads and also got two new height adjustable durso pipes.never seen these before.i will have to get a pic of these.it will be probably january by the time its running .but i plan to build a metal building home and will be putting the tank in there right after the wall and truss beams are it .this way i can still back a pick up truck in there and build the house around the tank.i will build a plywood box around it to protect it until all the roofing and drywall is in.
so thats the plan.it will be a full reef with i think 4 400watt mh lights.

Looks like it came with a pest in it. If it were me id get rid of it, might be stubborn, id try a fresh dip, with iodine dip, then hit it with a "deejeffs"juice.
Vry sweet pick up! Sounds like u got some great plans for it..... can't wait 2 see!

Nice tank man. Was Sea World running a sale?

How do you plan on taking out the overflows, are they just siliconed in?

i have to look at the overflows a bit better.they look like they are welded not silicone.but i dont care if they leave marks .i will be painting the sides .maybe do a foam wall over then not sure yet.
this part will kill you guys.the man selling it had to sell it by yesterday.he is moving out of state today.all he wanted was $300.plus i got all the bulkheads and durso pipes.
there will be alot of work getting the scratches out but its worth it.

Dang, I don't ever come across deals like that down here. Nice one! If you take some 1/4" ply wood and rip some small strips you can tape them to the tank to basically trim around the overflows. At that point you could take an angle grinder with a cut off wheel and run it against the plywood strips as a guide without marring up the tank while you cut. Would give you a fairly close cut to the sides of the tank. Keep us posted. Any idea on what it weighs?

i just went and sealed it off.too hot to be outside on a day off.
iwould guess 700-750 lbs.he had it in storage and we showed up with a trailer.my friends dad forgot the dolly.so we looked around and found two broomstick handles.we tilted it forward and put a small 2 by 4 under the front end then put the handles under it .rolled it out of the storage unit.then me and bubba picked up the front end while his dad backed the trailer under it then we slid it onto the trailer.him and i carried my glass 250 tank but no way we were going to carry this thing.it will probably sit for at least a month now.i have alot of work coming up and need to save up for the house some more.i figure september i will start the house and in 3-4 months have this thing in there

A HAAAA - Here is your big build thread! I know one thing for sure - Bust out a Few Grand to get it running. I think I kept my 475g build under $8,000 (I thinks I bugeted 5 - 6k at first) So start saving now! lol
I gotta get my thread updated - but there anit much to update. fish are all eaten/corals growin, going thru at least 200 gal salt mix a month. I got tired of running qtine tanks so ain't bought nothing new in 2 months.
WIll be following along of course Jeff - welcome to the BTC (big tank club)
