Just keep in mind they are mini ones and really cool but they don't get bigger like the really cool ones HA! But this sight has some big ones for pretty cheap!!! I got one in my other tank but something ate it
Let us know how its going!!!!

Well thank you for asking. I have been posting a bit on here asking questions here and there.
My feather duster is still there and I have about 5 others as well. They are all different colors. I have some purple ones, white ones, green ones, and the brown one that was pictured. My tank actually cycled in 1 week due to the rock I had used. It was from an established tank and my cycle went well.
I know have my cleaning crew, 2 clowns, 2 fire fish, 1 tail spot blenny, and a peppermint shrimp. I added my first coral on Saturday. I got a Hairy mushroom hoping that my clowns may host it.

Right now I have a couple of posts out there about trying to find something to help with my sand bed. I went Saturday to get some more snails for the sand, but the LFS guy told me to try a sand star. Well by the time I got home he had lost 2 legs and I think he is dead.

So if you have any suggestions on sand sifters that are reef safe, please let me know. So far everything else is GREAT!! That of course is thanks to all you on this board. Many thanks
You guys are awesome!

I don't know why he would lose his legs, but don't fret over that they do grow back!!!! I think he will be fine. Someone posted on here somewhere about a fish that sifted the sand!!! I had a brittle star that was supposed to help but he just sat under one rock and never moved so I don't think he was doing much sifting except under the one rock ha! Are you feeding your feather dusters? If not I bet if you start you'll have alot more than 5! We just started feeding ours and we've got triple the amount of dusters after only two feedings! The guy at the LFS said they can come back to life after like a year!!!! Its really cool ! Where are you located at??? Love making new fish buddies :cheer:

To me, that don't look like a feather duster, it sure looks like a aiptasia to me...The picture is too blurry....Go search for hitchhiker and look for pictures on feather dusters and aiptasia anemone. If it's a aiptasia, better treat it fast cause it'll spread fast!!! I have tried different methods, so far Joe's Juice works best for me... :happyfish

Just to add a bit to the water change during a cycle thing...
As Bang and Jdragunas both said, keeping ammonia under control during cycling live rock is the best way to go. I posted a thread a couple of months ago with a quote from Dr. Fenner regarding this topic.
Ammonia is toxic. In fact, in concentrations above 1ppm it can actually KILL the bacteria you are trying to grow in a cycle (thus prolonging the cycle).
Bacteria is controlled by its food. As you add fish you add to your bioload and your bacteria reproduces to feed. Unless you plan on artificially maintaining a huge bioload while you are cycling your tank, then much of your bacteria is going to starve and die off as it's food supply dwindles.
There is no reason to allow your ammonia to spike too high and kill your live rock.

I live in Houston and I too love finding new fish buddies
.
Now when I called the LFS about the star loosing his legs he said they would not grow back
So now I don 't know what to think. I specifically asked him that and he said no. :notsure: I definately need to find something for my sand. I don't know if my star is still alive or not.
