H.O.T. Magnum 250 Worst Filter EVER!

I purchased a new HOT Magnum 250 to replace my Emperor 400 (I wanted to be able to put both the filter and the skimmer on the same side of the tank). The filter looks good, takes up little room, and I thought a closed system would reduce noise. This thing puts out BILLIONS of microbubbles, which my coral, or course, hate. I have researched the issue only to find shallow answers like:
1. Improper D ring seal
2. Improper O ring seal on outtake
Sometimes it does not put out any bubbles, and other times it's all it does. I think I am going to go ahead and bring it back and get an Emperor 280 instead. Anyone have a better suggestion?

I had a HOT Magnum.....worked great for FW....sucked for SW....IDK why.....I just could never get rid of the bubbles when I tried it on the sw tank
you can get a canister and still have plenty of room for the skimmer.....look at the cascade brand too....I have 2 and really like them. they come with a flow bar and IMO it is an excellent way to move water at the top of the tank

try restricting the output side a little to see if the bubbles stop. The motor on those is oversized and cause cavitation.

I have done further research and have decided to bring the HOT Magnum 250 back to the LFS. There were a lot of suggestions on how to alleviate the issue; but IMHO things should work as advertised out of the box without further modification or stress. I think the Emperor 280 will do just fine, costs $30 less; which will allow me to get another animal.
