JERTHUNTER: Sorry to intrude but...two questions. In the picture of your tank what kind of Overflow is that and the sucking thing on the left side is that for a skimmer or a filter?

The overflow is umm, I don't know, doesn't have a brand now, just two boxes and a u-tube.. on the left that is the suction for the prism skimmer I have.

OK thanks. Just ordered a reeflife or reeflife whatever it is. I'm a little nervous about the size of it, thats all. And the skimmer I have the prism too but I have the deluxe with that bigger piece on it and I wanted to know how it works without the "deluxe" portion because I'm not sure if it will fit inside my new refugium I built. It works good your skimmer?

Yes, I have a Prizm skimmer, it works but if I was starting over again and wanted a hang on skimmer I would probably have gotten the Aqua Remora (I think that is the name).
If your fish store doesn't have ask around for people near you to see if they will give you some, it grows fast so often people just throw it away, or check online

sites.
Another alternative to that is running phosphate and nitrate removal media but I think you're better off trying to grow some algae, just my preference.
Either way the concept is the same, you are trying to remove phosphates and nitrates from the water before the hair algae can get it so you practically starve the hair algae off.

yea i accually tried that before now that i think about it and my emerald crab (i think) ate it all and it didnt have a chance to take away the nutrients.

my lfs is really expensive tho so i hope it doesnt cost to much money. thnx for all the help
ill let you know how it goes and if anyone has any other suggestions let me know!
