i have had my branching hammer for a little over a week now and it have been doing fine... today one of the heads isnt opening... going to do my weekly WC now (about 15%) but i wouldnt think it is due to water quality since the other 2 heads are wide open... what could cause this???

Is there anything on it? Brown stuff???
What are your water tests showing? What type of lights do you have?

nova extreme pro (6-t5 with individual reflectors) its about 12" below water (the open 2 are about 15" below water)...
nothing is growing on it...
havent tested yet (seems weird it would only affect one head)
it has been doing good until today, they other 2 are fully open... i did move a PH yesterday to try and clean up the sand but put it back when i noticed this...
really strange, i will admit my tank is a little new for this coral but got a good deal on it so thought i would try, thought i was in the clear since it was doing good for over a week...
feeding= dt's photo plankton everyother day and and frozen cyclopis every 3 days...

This is just an example: I had a 3 head FS...I moved it into a tank with insufficient lighting...ONE head died...the other 2 did not....WHY The other 2 did not die I have NO CLUE....
SO in other words you really can't judge by what the other heads are doing or not doing...of course this is just my opinion...LOL...BUT it is based on something I observed.

ok... was worried for a min because i want an anememe (never can spell that), brains and clams later down the road and was worried since most of the time they are lower and need more light... thanks.. might be optimism but it looks like a couple of the pieces are starting to swell, maybe it was moving the power head

i dont want it to die and its not coming out of it today.. if something doesnt help it soon it will be dead by this time tomorrow... i hope it pulls out of it... i will post a pic i took awhile back, you will see that there are some dead heads already (that way when i got it), could there be something internal causing this???
the top head is the one that is closed up... did 20g WC today...

I had a hammer coral for about 3 months, was always real healthy and always came out. then suddenly one day one side of it didnt come out anymore. Slowly it starting dissapearing. For no appearent reason. I guess you never know with these kinds of corals. good luck
