Hand Feeding Baby Maxima..

Hey,
I know that it is reccomended to hand/ bowl feed clams that are 1-2'' in size. I heard that you have to take them ou of the tank, place them in a bowl with the tank water, then add pytoplankton (kent marine pythoplex) in the bowl to make it a green tint. Then wait 30 minutes, until water clears, then place clam in tank.
My question is, What is the approximate size were you can just feed the clams in display, without having to take them out?
Thanks,
Adam__

ok, but if i do take it out of the water,
how long until i can stop feeding it that way, and just feed it while it is on my sand, in my 92? In other words.. until it gets what size?

Thanks!
By any chance, would you know how fast a clam averagely grows per year? I have this beautiful ultra baby maxima at home, and he is about 1.5 inches. I have had him for a month now, and have not fed him the ''bowl way'' only by directly putting the phto in the tank. Do you think it is too late?
( i am in vacation now, and coming back home in 4 days.)

A better way to feed them in the tank is to take a 2 liter bottle, cut the bottom off. put the bottle over the clamd and shove it into the sand. Then fill op a syringe with ur choice of food, take the cap off and release the food into the bottle. Put the cap back on and wait for the water to clear.
Not sure on how long it takes them to grow I would imagine it depends on how happy they r i.e. calcium,alk,feeding....
