I find it VERY sad and disturbing that there are two posts about the birthday of our great nation and barely any response... Truely, truely sad...

Actually, I don't. It can mean two things...One which you are/were pointing out. Or it can mean we were all enjoying the birth of this great country with our family out enjoying the natural wonders of this great country. Just because no one logged on to a fish forum does not mean they didn't care. It just means they were enjoying things possibly.

True, or Lindsay Lohan got a zit! Do you honestly think that I would post that if people were just busy? Nah, much more important things were on the minds of the people on this forum... It doesn't really matter now. I was just surprised that people who are so enthusiastic about politics at the mere mention of anything related, were so unsupportive of such a holiday. Nothing more.

Maybe it is just me (my wife will certainly tell you it is just me) but I never really understood the yeah for X threads, no offense to anyone on here, but typing a one sentence celebratory happy Fourth of July post or whatever, seems weird to me. I guess it is a good sign that I'm not too addicted to the internet...
I'd much rather celebrate the Fourth by trying to blow off my arm, singe my eyebrows lighting a grill, listening to Sousa while bellowing out the songs at the top of my lungs, learning about or refreshing some knowlege of the writings of the founders or
making out under the fireworks.
But that is just me.

I think I am still recovering from my 4th of July celebration!

My fourth capped off a 2 week vacation. I got to see 3 different fire work shows, sell some art, and look at a "tall ships" tour. Which was a coasty ship and a couple from a few different countries, that were working sailboats. Completely amazing.
(sidebar) One of the ships was from the Mexican Navy. And all the ships were flying their national colors. (think flags large enough were people were resting in the shade cast by the flags) and Americans did it right, we didn't run around threatening to beat people up for flying the foreign flag on our Independence day. There were no morons running around giving interviews about feeling disrespected, or going on marches. It was nice to see that there are still sane people in this country.

I spent the holiday at work. It actually was a good time, for everyone was in good spirits. We tried to get pictures of families holding their babies while the fireworks were going off in the window. All the families were smiling and laughing.... not always possible when your baby is in an ICU.
Greg said the area around our new house was like a war zone and it was a huge neighbourhood party.
It's not that there were a plethera of posts on other topics instead of the holiday..... there just isn't much action on here anymore.
