Because "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" is technicly the first book in the series. C.S. Lewis Wrote 'The Magicians Nephew" (wich is my personal favorite) last makeing it book seven not book one. Also most people are more familure with it do to reading it in elemetary school.

I am going to wait until the big rush is done.
I am not into the crowd thing. My patience has started to wear thin these last few years!!
So I like to wait until pretty much all the folks has gone and seen it.
Like when we wnet to Jarhead we had the first three rows to ourselves........ahhhhhhhhhhh
perfection!!

This was by far the best movie yet!
It was totally worth staying up till the crack of dawn to watch. I give it two

Now I will return to my extra large coffee beverage and pray I can stay awake through work, and to celebrate my husband's birthday tonight

The Last Battle (1956) would be the last book. Magicians Nephew (1955) was before that.

Aparently it doesn't matter which order you read the books in. I never looked at the pub dates so I didn't realize LW&W was written first. I always had them as the set and read them in order of Narnian history-(Insert smiley that shows I'm a dork)

mola, the only thing i wanna know - just yes or no, that's it... did it mostly follow the book???

Yes!
I thought so at least. There were some changes that weren't true to the book, but I guess it's one of those "Change it for the sake of the film," kind of things. They also left stuff out, but assuming most of the people in the audience are well versed in the book, it makes no difference. It was really really REALLY good.

ok, GREAT!!! I don't mind minor changes, actually it's kinda fun to be like "you know, that happened like this in the book..." it keeps you on your toes... although my hubby refuses to watch the first 3 with me anymore because i do that all the time... hehehe
We're going on a date tonight, dinner then the movie at 8:45! (the main reason my hubby wants to go is to see the full trailor for the new superman movie...)

Ok so I saw the movie last night and while it is the best movie so far I have some concerns on the plots now for the next two movies because of major ommisions in the plot of this one.
I dont want to spoil the movie - so I wont write of the omissions in the plot but it is concerining that there are so many main people left out or the role changed to fit this movie without thought to the next one.
Great Movie though - love the dragons. and Voldormort was much scarier then I had imaginined.

I saw it too and it was great!! They did leave plenty of story for another movie. I think the length of the movie would be a problem if everything was in one movie

wow, I stand corrected. I had always thought magican's nephew was written last. oh well.
Saw potter friday, and thaught it to be the best one to date. but it did deviated quite abit from the orginal story line.

YES YES YES!! I totally agree. While I liked it better than the other movies to date, I was thinking this too. You realize just how detailed and "rich" the books are. SO many other story lines and characters that were just left out. I understand that I would be one of the few people (OK, not true) that would sit through a 9 hour Harry Potter film....but I still think there could have been more of the detail covered.
Of course, we have to give it some time to avoid the whole SPOILER thing again...then we can discuss what should have been included

yeah, voldormort scared the piss out of me...
I lOVED this movie much better than the other three, although i agree they left out a lot of plot points, and a lot of little parts that i just liked.
AND, i just read HBP... i'm sooooo sad!!!

I saw the movies (previous three) before I ever read the books. Now that I read the books, I am thoroughly disappointed in the movies. I doubt I will see this one before it hits HBO. The only good thing about the movies (IMO) is I hear the voices when people talk while I read the book, adds a bit more....especially when reading Malfoy's parts...adds that extra something.

yeah, now when i read the books, i actually see the characters...
however, in this new movie, i feel that victor krum and cedric diggory's parts were not cast properly... Cedric is supposed to be this dashingly handsom man (and while they have everyone treat this guy like he's really handsom... he's not...) and victor krum's supposed to be this really ugly guy, kinda prehistoric looking, and really dumb, but he's not ugly (although he is very russian looking), and they don't really make him seem anything...
I feel like a lot of the character development was left out in this movie as well... i just all around like the book better, but that goes for almost every movie that was made after a book (the green mile, the notebook, hearts in atlantis, jurrasic park, etc...)

LOTR was done VERY well. Probably the closest book to movie relationship I have ever seen.
