There is a surface skimmer box that is sold as an add-on to your back-pak. The box fits over the rio-pump and allows the pump to only send water from the surface of the tank to be sent into the protein-skimmer. They are about $20, so it's a really cheap fix.
It should take care of the problem...!

It sounds to me like DOC, you need a surface skimmer hooked to a Proein Skimmer to remove it.
Not trying to hijack, but where could i find one of these. Im having the same problem
Any of the online retailors that sells the backpak with have the scimmer add-on.

Another solution is to buy a surface skimmer that connects to your HOB filter or Canister filter. I bought one, and it works great! Only costs about 10-15 dollars. Below is a picture.
Wow thanks for all the great info! I really appreciate it! I just e-mailed the CPR aquatic people to see what they thought cause the accessories say they are for the bak pak but not sure if they will work for the bak pak 2 wich I have so I will let u all know on the info they give me.
