hey, just wondering if theres any heaters that are recommended by anyone as being" better" then others. And what size would you all recommend for a 55g. thanks!

I have the WON digital tiatanium heaters. Overall I would recommend them, although the suction cups on the heater rod never stay put. As far as wattage, it depends on how many degrees you need to raise the temp of the tank over room temp. If you get too big a heater and it ever stuck on it would cook your tank.

I have the 200W Ebo Jager. for my 72gal. It heated up the tank in about a day. It's glass is thicker than most other heater brands to prevent accidental breakage from fish or falling LR. :jumping:

For a 55 in your part of the world I would recommend a pair of 100 watt heaters. Ebo Jager makes a great product but I'm becomming partial to the Titanium heaters.

I agree with Bang Guy. Why worry about your heater cracking. Go with titanium. They are nice and small, safe, and look lot better.

Are those the "metal" looking ones that are totally submersible? What's the cost compared to say...Mine? Mine was $16 online, and $38 at my lfs.

Ebo Jager, Hands Down... Darn thing is AWESOME. It had run without being submersed for about 5 days(due to earthquake, and me not being in town) and it STILL WORKS!!!! Not only that, but its still accurate! I trusted other people and bought an Ebo, and they were right.

I have a Pro Heat II titanium 150W in my sump, for a 55G and it works fine for me. My temp stays around 79.2 on the digital heater and the tank temp is 78.3. Its only 11" long and it lays on the bottom of the sump.
