surprised you're holding that, they're usually pretty nasty, pack a bite, and kick some ridiculous hairs.

i was stating my opinion just like everyone else some one has just turned ppl of of comeing to australia, btw the things aspca come across over there, we hav like a tenth of animal cruelty than there, its so heartbreaking to hear the things we hear about happening over there about this the statistics show it, im not sayin it dosnt happen here but its much more of a problem there i do have a bit to do with the pet industrie assosiation and the rspca and i know someone who has lived there and worked for the aspca and he says it absolutely terrible, he couldnt stand some of the things they came across but either way id still love to travel there and im not going to post a thread saying im never goin there because of a certain animal and have ppl say there never gunna go there, both are great counties

I share that same opinion, but I just telling you that not all americans are like that, I'm far more likely to use a weapon like that against another human being after all they are the biggest threat in any situation.

Irukandji = Carukia barnesi is a nasty little critter....
I've watched that show several times and it just goes to show that bad things come in little packages. It's only like half an inch in size....The sting is so bad that extreme doses of morphine can't mask the pain, the one lady had to agonize in the hospital bed for days, they couldn't knock her out as they had to treat the symptoms and needed her awake to tell the docs what was wrong. And she was only stung with a tiny, tiny broken off part of the stinger....Lethal to say the least

Yep I saw the same show too... for a long time they couldnt find what the cause of these unexplained stings. A more in depth investigation revealed these little critters... WOW.
Not sure if it was the same show or not but def related. There was a man and woman duo who was collecting these little things in shallow waters with a little net and a small boat. They apparently had gotten some or one of the jelly's tentacles on them, i believe the woman got stung by an unattached tentacle on her ring finger. Not more than 1/4" long and the guy got is some where on his head. ( I think) but where ever it was, it inflicted major damage, severe pain the woman was ok after like 3 days the guy had agonizing pain for almost a week and in the beginning they were both considered in critical condition....

Same show.... He was in the water collecting them and got stung his lip (I think), she was helping into the boat to wash the sting with vinegar and I guess he had part of a stinger on his wetsuit and that was what stung her...
And to think these researchers were stung with only tiny parts of the stingers, can't even imagine what a full blown dose of toxin would feel like..
Irukandji were to blame for a series of unexplained deaths, they knew something was in the water, just not sure what it was and after some serious research, thats when they found the Irukandji's (pronounced ear-a-kanji - or rather that's how the name sounded on the show)
