HELLLP! Hermit crabs leg came off

Hey guys! When I went to feed my fish just now I saw my hermit crabs legs. I thought he died but when I put food in he came out. Is that normal? And should I take the legs out of the tank?

I'm not understanding the scenario.

Well, today when I got back home I want to feed my fish, then I noticed a couple of red legs just lying there, then I saw my hermit crab doing what he usually does, cleaning, and he acts like nothing happens. I only see four legs on him and 2 pincers.

Sounds like you're looking at a molt maybe?

yea it was the molt nothing to worry about

hermit crabs and other crustaceans can and will regrow legs and claws. i have 2 green crabs both missing several legs and claws, and on Japanese shore crab missing one leg
