lighting is coralife with led lunars. 4 x 96 (half white, half actinic). coral is near top of tank.

nitrites 0, nitrates 20. colt coral isn't looking as good either.

this is actually the colt coral. the other was the toadstool leather, which used to have longer things sticking out.

and this is some sort of flower coral. it used to have little things poking out. not so much so anymore. one of the feather duster worms seems to be having problems. any chance that a hammer coral is poisoning everyone?

ph is 8.0, but it is early in the day, and it usually rises as the day goes on.

i'll go get a phosphate test kit to check for that. sounds like i may have gotten so bad advice on the lighting. i was told that since it was that compact lighting it would be enough. any recommendations? i wanted a fish only tank anyway, so i could put that light on that tank and get a new light. probably something with metal halides, but will it fit under the canopy that is on the tank?

this one might do.
HT 4', 2-250w MH 10k, 2-40w Hood
There is an extra shipping charge of $10 for this oversized item.
Description: Comes with 2-250w metal halide 10k bulbs and 2-40w super actinic blue fluorescents.
Upgrade to VHO Fluorescents**
Description: 40w fluorescents in 4' fixture will be changed to 110w VHOs; 40w

that should total up to 720w. will lose my lunar leds though (not to mention $650)

That sounds like a chunk of change but add up what you have in corals that are about to expire. Besides that I bet someone would buy your PC's to offset the MH expense. Just a thought.

is it okay to leave that dead and/or dying coral in the tank, hoping it will revive? or is it releasing bad stuff into the water? should i leave it in the tank, or take it out?

if this keeps up, i'm going to have a nice fish-only display, and not by choice.
