Ok so im have a 28 gallon tank and on my old 125 i had 3 125w mh but the heat was so bad that it killed even going into the room! So now im looking for new lights. Coral wise i want lsp no sps( I have killed most of the ones that i have had).. I have looked up some lights and i saw that saltwaterfish has a light its a Marineland Reef Capable LED Light.. I didnt know if these would work.
The tank is still in cycle!

THEY are not that great.....
I have MH lights and they have killed nothing....you need air flow...an open top...or egg crate..with a fan moving some air

mixed reviews on this unit of LEDs... some love em and some hate em!
I dont own em but imo 1w leds require 100's of leds to be reef capable! Have u tried some fans for ur MHs and maybe leaving a door open or cracking the window???
Just some thoughts running through my lil skull lol

t5s are capable of supporting LPS... I love me some lps btw!~
Welcome to the site too!

T5HO's are capable of supporting more then just LPS, but SPS and clams and anemones also. Just depends on how many bulbs you get and if they are in individual reflectors...

+1 on wat snakeblitz said!
6-8 bulb units...maybe even a nice 4 bulb unit with individual bulb reflectors would work for sps!
VVVVVV <----the reflector would look like that!

a 4 bulb fixture would work just fine...6 is good too but 8 I believe would be a little over kill

ok ya see its in my bedroom i never have had a problem with the tank getting hot just the room. So i have no clue about t5s??? lol ya i had the reef tank and loved it with the mh!!!
I need something that is going to look clean and nice seeing that it has no hood to put it in and i cant hang them. I may look in to building a hood but its a bow front so i know its going to be tuff!!!
Thanks for yalls help if you know any idea for lights that would be so awesome!

I have the linkable T5HO unit, on my 56g, that way upgrades are easy and inexpensive. I love the lights, they do not transfer heat at all, and are plenty bright enough, each unit has a reflector and two bulbs. The unit is so lightweight that the legs they come with actually work. On my MH unit the legs would not hold it, I had to hang it. However T5s do not make the MH shimmer dancing on the water effect. If I ever have to replace my MH unit on the 90g, I will do the linkable T5HOs
I like the linkable, that way if something goes wrong I replace that section instead of getting a whole new unit. One 2 bulb unit link costs (depending on size) $119.00 to $150.00
Compared to the cost of even a single compact at $400.00...that's awesome to me.

OK so today i went to the lfs and was just looking around. Lol I was talking to the owner about a light that they had its a odyssea T5 4x24w lights. It also has the led lunar lights.. He said he was using these on his 20gallon longs so i was wondering if they would work for my tank??? I know this is the brand that i had in my mh lights and never had any problems out of them.. What do u think?

Well do u think it will be enough light for corals and stuff in my tank??
And thanks for the input i told the guy that i would have to go home and ask the online world before i bought it lol
I hate when u go into the fish store and see all these fish and u have to tell ur self no because the tank is still in cycle lol

I think it could......I also think that down the road you would want to upgrade the bulbs....BUT since your tank is new you won't have to worry just yet
I have a 4bulb T5 Unit on my 29G and keep clams in it....(but upgraded bulbs)

So i have researched on these lights for like two hours now and i think im going to get them and try to see how they work...
meower: u think a small anemone would live under these lights as long as i also feed it?

I think if your tank is mature, (9 months) and the water quality is excellent,....AND you upgrade the bulbs to ATI or similar....yes....BUT...anemones grow.....LOL.....SO IDK what you mean by small...unless you are talking mini carpet anemone
