this is my second stingray i just got her, she showed up in rough shape. besides a few small cuts and scrapes i think she has black ich. on her dorsal side i see small pin head sized black spots that i know are not suppose to be there, from the research ive done i believe it to be black ich or marine ich. i know these fish are sensitive to sudden changes in water chemistry, what can i do to save her and protect my other fish, i have a 75 gallon tank with 15lbs of live rock, about 35lbs of sand, a snowflake eel, bicolor angelfish, pincushion urchin, fighting conch, brittle starfish, sand sifting starfish, turbos and blueleg hermits.
ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED, THANKS IN ADVANCE.

WELL....Welcom to SWF, BUT
more info is needed.....what type of ray? You do know a 75G is too smal don;t you?
Where did you get it from?
Do you have a pic?
What are your water parameters?
Have you thought about giving it back?

I have a 75 gallon and the only way I'd put a ray in it is if i had no other fish and no rocks. Sand and water is all I would have in there and the ray would have to be tiny for me to even consider putting it in there(in which case I'd be looking for a bigger tank or giving it back to whoever I got it from). It doesn't matter what the ray has at this point, because if you put it in that tank as stressed as I'm sure it already is, it's gonna die. I bet you told the LFS owner that you thought stingrays were cool and he told you it would be perfectly fine to keep one in your tank.

It should not be housed with a bicolor angelfish or pincushion urchin. And even the smallest ray should not be housed in a 75 gallon. Need to know what kind of ray it is and look at some pictures to be of any help.

ranting on about the 75 will not save the ray. answer the persons question
Without enough room to move around I doubt that anything would be much help at this point. If there was nothing else in the tank maybe, but It won't have much room to freely move around at all unless it's the size of a tennis ball.

I...IN NO WAY...think a 75G is big enough, BUT..when I first got my ray she was only 3" big....YES she grew fast, but she would have been okay in the 75G for a couple of months MAYBE
The other problem here is also the tank inhabitants.
Whysohigh......we can't help w/o more info

I don't know why I didn't think of this before when I said not to house it with the urchin, but it could be getting stuck by the urchin and the black spots are actually little pieces of the spine.
