I'm new to salt aquaria...but we feel for you. we've poured our life into dogs, hamsters, guinea pigs, turtles, FW fish and now salt water.
Hopefully your fish make it...We'll say a prayer

OK, finally got the wrasse out but had to take all the rock out to do it. What a pain in the rear! Starting Hypo now. About how much lower per hour or whatever to get salinity down to 1.009.

Do a little at a time and re-test after each water change. It should take 48 hours to get it down. Smaller changes throughout the time is much better than just a few larger changes. You want the drop to be gradual.

OK, I need a quick answer. The ammonia is up a little bit in the QT tank and I dont want to start hypo until it is down to 0. Right now is at .25. Can I take water out of QT and replace with DT water to lower ammonia or do another water change. 44 gallon QT and I changed 10 gallons yesterday but still have some ammonia

Sure, you can use dt water if the ph, salinity and temp are the same (or very close)

I am not sure why the ammonia went up. Havent been over feeding. Have a vial of SW Biozyme and have been putting in a little at a time to help the Bio Wheels get going. Should I put the whole vial in now?

Do it as the directions say. How long have your fish been in the qt now? What has been going on?

2 clowns and LMB have been in a week. Got 6 line wrasse in QT last Saturday. All seem to be doing fine. Just working on getting ammonia down so can start hypo. Just transferred 10 gallons from DT to QT and put old QT water back in DT. Will check levels tonight to see if I have to do more water switches.

You can start hypo. You are going to be dong MANY small water changes over the next 2 days while you lower the SG.

Ok, here is my update. All 4 of my fish were doing great in hypo until a week ago one of my 2 clownfish died. Then a few days later my 6-line wrasse died. Now today my other clown is dying. The only one doing OK is my LMB. I have no idea why these guys died. Just started raising salinity today as it has been in hypo for 3 weeks. No ammonia and salinity has been 1.009 and PH is 8.2 and was feeding every 2-3 days. Anybody have any ideas on why the deaths? I am so bummed. The Clown that is dying now has lost alot of his color.

You have been checking the water all throughout the hypo process? What about nitrite and nitrate? What are those readings?

Your best bet is to treat with a product called Quinine Sulfate. Treat in a Qt tank for 2 weeks at 8ppm. Leave the display tank empty for 6 weeks. I have found this to be the best treatment. Ps email me if you cant find Quinine Sulfate. As I cant post links to other sites on hear.

Those readings are fine. Now my other clown has died and I only have a LMB left in QT. Raising salinity up for him . Has been 4 weeks since hypo started. Still dont know why almost all of my fish died.

Can I start hypo as soon as I get fish in QT. It is a 44 gallon tank. How much water to take out and change each time and what duration between changes? I want to get this done this weekend while I am at home.
If your first post was on 1-26 i dont understand why is it that you only started the hypo a week later especially when your fish are dying quickly! with an infestation that was moving this fast i wouldve chosen to use the copper method with cuppramine. You wouldve probabyl save you trigger if you would have treated with copper as soon as the tang was gone.
