Hmmmm, wish I could help Meowzer. I also have a CPR bak pak, and I've never run it with the bio bale in it. My skimmer has worked awesome since day one (this from one of the most notorious skimmer skeptics ever). I even bought one for my daughter for her 55.
How long has it been spewing bubbles? I do notice with mine that after a water change, and possibly from messing in the tank during the change, that my skimmer does spew little bubbles for a while, but after a few hours that clears. If it doesn't, simply adjusting the venturi valve usually does the trick. Have you ever taken the pump apart and cleaned it? Just an idea.
Hope you figure yours out.

MMM...I did do a w/c yesterday....IDK this morning it still has bubbles.....I may take the whole thing apart today, or wait for the Bubble Eliminator I ordered to get here next week

The foam seems a little wetter today too....so I may make some more adjustments.
I have only had it a month, this is a new set up...started April 15...

it will cause bubbles for 24 to 48 hours after water changes or any chemicals added to the water. It says that in the manual. I dont know what ya did. I have no sand. Just lots of rubble then the bio balls then the black sponge. Just about zero bubbles and great skim

LOL...I don't know either
...I think I'll just watch it for a couple of days, and like I said I ordered that bubble eliminator

The sand was my husbands idea
he thought it would restrict the water enough to slow the bubbles.....I don't know....

WELL after further review of the troubleshooting guide...
...I have noticed a few things...I totally missed the part about the 24-48 bubble period after a w/c....also I now realize i have my water TOO high cause I thought (by your pic Crypt lol) that water was SUPPOSED to come out that little hole in the side by the cup

OK...I am still going to do what they call the Berlin method, and the paper says I will need the bubble eliminator for that...so until then...I will have to deal with it the way it is
THANKS.....

Well I am now back to square one...

I took Most of the sand out, and all of the sponge...put the biobale back in
I have some bubbles, but I don't think it is anymore than I had before yesterday...last night there were LOTS
I am still going to put the bubble eliminator in when I get it....
I'll report back on how that works next week

Hi Meowzer, had the back pac on my 55 and I hated it from the start. Leave the blue junk in it, and it will be alright in a few days. Just let the water flow through it and not have it skim for the first 48 hours.
Hope this helps.

I hate it when stuff doesn't work like it should...I get sooo frustrated... and it sounds like you know exactly where I am coming from...The hammer does seem like a good solution at those moments.

The pretty blue stuff turns brown and the skimmer works good then, but really ugly.

the issue with the bio bale is it works almost like bio balls. It will trap larger pieces of a waste and cause higher trates. I dont know if that matters to you. The little hole I think is a overflow design just in case the water gets to higher or your cup fills too fast.
I hope it works out for you. Maybe I got lucky with the way I messed with it. I dont know.

WELLLL...I don't really have good news...Put this bubble trap thing in late last night...so far it seems like I have MORE bubbles
It has not even been 12 hours yet, and the BAKPAK directions seem to say that everytime you do something you may get bubbles for 24-48 hours...SOOOO I will see what happens in the next few days

At least it is still skimming good

I just cleaned the cup, and it is skimming great...it's just those bubbles....I am just gonna let it be for now, and hopefully they will go away eventually

Yeah..I guess I have to try something else...
It's still bubbling....Maybe tomorrow or in a day or two I'll skim thru my tanks and see what I have to use....What can it hurt

What is happening here?
WELL...I bought that bubble trap thing in and it is still bubbling
Crypt suggests that I put some LR rubble in there...I have not even tried yet...90% of my time has been caring for BIGUN...the rest trying to keep on top of the maintenance for the other 3 tanks.
One thing I wonder though.....Will I have to remove that bubble trap to put the LR rubble in

HMMMM

Is it skimming well but just dumping some bubbles back in the tank?
It's skimming great as a matter of fact...Nice thick icky looking smelly stuff

Yes...it puts bubbles back in..not micro bubbles either...regular bigger bubbles...
