you'll need to either take everything out of your tank and hypo them in there, or set up a qt and hypo ALL your fish.
ich is a parasite, google atj marine ich to see a great scientific website

this only works on freshwater ich
and it actually stresses out your fish more, because there is less usable oxygen in the water, causing ich to get an even stronger hold.

Hippo tang just went through this.
Buy garlic additive to mix with food.
Increase temp. of tank to at least 80.
Decrease salinity.
I did this for 3 days and ICK was gone.

garlic does not have magical capabilities to get rid of ich. ich dropping off your fish in three days is more likely just the natural life cycle of ich.

Ich is not affected by a raise in temperature unless it is raised above 85 degrees which is far too warm for the fish. Raising the temp speeds up ich's life cycle, it does not kill it. What do you have in your tank? As Renogaw pointed out, the best options are to remove the rocks and inverts into a separate tub and hypo the display or cycle a qt tank and treat all of your fish in there. Please post in Disease and Treatment and we will be happy to walk you through it.

I also agree.
Johnnyd, I'm going to move this thread to the disease forum so you get the help you need. Honestly though, that link that was posted to the Ich thread is the best thing you can do.
Garlic (fresh garlic), low stress, vitamins, etc. can all help boost a fish's immune system and sometimes allow them to resist Ich. None of those treatments will completely eliminate it from your tank however. Please read the thread linked in the disease forum for the best ways to rid your tank of Ich.

Johnny...What do you have in the display tank? If there are no inverts and you can't set up a QT tank you can do hyposalinity in the DT.

Hey its my first time posting so I hope Im doing it right? I also a have a sick Tang.It was losing its blue color in spots so ***** told me to do fresh water dips,Now my Tang looks worse and it has Ich white spots every where.Funny thing is I just got a Lawnmower Blenny from there 2 weeks prior now my whole yang is sick. What do you all mean when you say Hyposalinity in the DT (Display Tank)?

Doing Hypo in your display is a last resort. Hypo will kill your live rock and live sand, as well as all of your snails and other inverts.

The snails, hermits and rock can easily be moved into a rubbermaid tub. The snowflake can get ich as well. He needs to be treated along with the other fish.

Ya, but his sand can't. I'm a huge fan of live sand critters for a healthy tank.

Live sand most certainly can go through hypo. We have to ask what kind of live sand this is though. Is it true live sand that came wet in a bag full of life or was it dry in a bag from the LFS? If it was dry in a bag then any life on it came from the rocks and can be replenished easily. Ich is the number one concern here. The biological bacteria does not die in hypo.

I agree the bacteria will be fine, but all of the tiny inverts in the sand will die. Even if it is bagged sand, the live rock should have begun to seed the sand.
I agree the ich needs to be dealt with, but like I said hypoing a display tank is always a last resort in my opinion.
