Help with a rebuild!

Hi!
I am doing well. Finger is feeling pretty good and It seems to be healing.
I wrap it only when I go to bed at night and I am trying to start using my finger again, slowly. I can feel that the muscles are tight. I don't want to over due it. It's a really odd feeling when I manage to grip with it, it's soooo strained.
The cut is healing nicely. But the whole area around the cut is still numb. It's like "pins and needles" anytime it is lightly touched. Also, when I hit it on stuff (I'm clumsy), it doesn't hurt quite as bad. :)
Still taking the antibiotics.
Thank you for asking.
I hope your days have gotten less lousy :)
A while ago you had said that you were thinking of taking down your tank.
May I ask if you are still thinking of doing so and why?

Me too!! I am forcing my finger to do stuff. It does not like this. I just don't care.
How are you doing lately friend? I feel like I don't see you on the bookface as often anymore. How is the wifey?

The tingy feeling is the nerve. It seems you cut that too and it is merely growing back and waking up, the numbness is the nerves on the outter part not fully grown back yet, sometimes the feeling never really comes back, kinda hard to explain right now.
Continue taking your antibiotics until completely gone. this is why bacteria becomes resistant to antibiotics. They become resistant easily. Frustrating when people do not finish there antibiotics. Did you know T.B. used to be sensitive to PCN? Now there are DRTB (drug resistant T.B.) and X.D.R.T.B. (extremely drug resistant T.B. meaning, the person will die because there is nothing that will kill it. So, the moral of the story........ keep taking your antibiotic.
From what I saw the cut looked good and clean.
Your cut took me back when I was in the Navy. We were on a six month cruise (six pac) me and the other guys got assigned to go on a LST, which was a flat bottom ship that carried tanks and AAV's. I volunteered to go on the flight deck and assist with a helo landing. I was guiding a huge fork lift while it was bringing up the flight nets and I was to secure the nets, which were wrapped around a huge metal pvc looking pipe. Well, this guy, me, a rather younger better looking younger than now gentleman, was doing an excellent job guiding the fork lift operator with the lifting and lowering of these nets, I signaled for him to lower the pipe. He drops it instead an crushed my bird finger on my left hand. That sucker blew like a sebatous cysts. The Chief Corpsman, my boss then, later cleaned and sutured it shot, splinted it and gave me hydrocodone 750 for pain later on. I later went back to the flight deck, located the lift operator, signaled him to come down, and puched him right in his face. Broke his nose and knocked one of his teeth right out of his skull.
AWWWWWH, those were the good days!
Oh but anyhoo, I still can't feel the tip of my finger very well. Feels weird, I can feel it on the inside of my finger.
On another note, my days have gotten a little better. Still hectic and frustrating. I can't waite for the weekend. Me and some Blue Moon and some quiet time.
I will PM you with the rest later some time.
hope you continue to improve. Keep moving the finger, try squeezing a tennis ball or making fists for atleast 5 - 10 minutes twice a day.
Later.

Omg... does your finger look normal now after all of that? I can't imagine such an injury. I would probably just give up. lol
I always finish my antibiotic. People who don't are idiots. My finger still feels warm sometimes and itches... I feel like the infection may still be lingering. I still have like 5 days with the antibiotics so... I am sure it will be gone.
I go back to work tuesday so I am trying my best to try and get my finger as used to gripping, holding, pulling as possible.
What seems to hurt it the most is driving. Having my hand around the wheels really hurts my whole hand (If I force my pinky to wrap around the wheel too).
Seems like such strange stuff for a little cut, ya know? I guess I never would have thought how annoying it is to be injured... imagine breaking an arm or something? I sure couldn't.

It's really not that bad. Lol.... Keep making fist and work it girrrrrl!
It's going to itch, it's healing. Have you ever had a scratch on your arm and after several days it itched and you scratched the scap off? Thats healing.
Just keep it clean and dry and all will be good in Raeland again. :)
I am having some serious issues with my itouch and laoding music on this critter!!!!!!! AUUGGG

Well, I did a system reboot on my laptop a few months back. Total factory reboot. Now..... my music is all screwed up. If I wanna add music from my playlist or library, I have to get rid of the stuff on my ipod touch. Don't wanna do that. Hmmmm

So this algae scrubber is driving me nuts. Clearly, I need to rebuild this thing as now it just decided that it was to randomly shoot water streams all the time. I see it happening, I fix it and then is just starts again. Thats annoying. So...
I fixed it. Temporarily.
I put a piece of GLAD press and seal over the top and tucked it into the sides of the sump.
Problem solved! Kinda of...

right but the issue is... I am not good with this type of stuff.
I work with tile, sheetrock, wood, paper, fabric... plastic does not seem to be my game.
I could barely figure out how to build this little thing and when it comes to this type of stuff, my BF does not have a clue.
I would never even begin to figure out how I would build an "underwater" version of what I have now. I haven't even figured out how I am gonna rebuild this one.

Quick update:
I have been monitoring this for a few days now. I have cyano starting to form on my sand bed. UGH.
Could this be from the LED lighting?!?!

I am freaking out here guys!! We just spent about 1200 bucks on new lighting... This is exactly how it started last time with the LEDs in the 60... That is why this whole thread even exists!
This cyano was not present at all when I had the MH lighting on there.
These LEDs are fully dimmable and programable. They are running on like 40% and we have slowly been up-ing their run time since we got them. I don't know how much more acclimation I can do with these things.
The cyano started about 5 days ago, tiny little spots. Now, it's taken over the right portion of the tank, sand bed only. RAWR!!
Is this just because this is a "new tank"? What am I supposed to do about this crap.
I had used chemi clean in here when I first set the tank up but now I have a full reef in here and I am not comfortable using those chemicals.
ADVICE?

I think it's a combination of things...new tank, lighting and flow...considering its a bacteria that likes to congregate in low flow areas I'd aim a powerhead there, cut down on feeding and shorten your light cycle....just make sure you biological/mechanical filtration is doing everything right and you should be good in a few days...

I've heard of that trick too, it supposedly works ok from what I hear.
You might could try widening the slot on the pipe just a tad and or just make a simple splash guard for the screen. I could tell that was going to be an issue when I was building mine so I ended up making a case that went around the screen. And then blacked out a little area around the top to shade the light from causing algae to grow near the top of the screen where it can clog up the slot. Also, you don't want to rough up the entire screen. Leave it smooth for about an inch or two near the top to also help deter the algae from growing there and clogging the slot.
Agree about the new tank and the cyano. The lights are not the cause.

I have been manually removing the small cyano carpets.
The lights have been backed down...
All the filters/skimmers/are working well as they should so I hope that this does not take over my tank!!
Thanks for the replies all!

You know what I had to do to get rid of my cyano problem? I had to nuke it with some red slime remover. It hasn't been back since.
I couldn't get mine under control - I kept basting it and siphoning it out and doing multiple water changes but it just took over... then I hit it with some antibiotic and added some macroalgae to my fuge and everything's been fine and under control since.

I may have to do that.
In the past, I had to use chemicals and then do like an 80% water change. I also had to scrub every piece of rock with a toothbrush.
PITA!

you should see my tank right now, I no longer have a coral tank but I do have a beautiful cynobacterium system. OOOOOOO the colors!
Big sigh
