+1. Some people with the cubes remove the hood altogether and build a net or open top, which in theory is a better idea. Then you could get what Meowzer stated above.

mine is not an actual cube with a hood i have a 150 mh pendant above mine its basicly a 20''x20''x20'' rimless aquarium with stand and pendant all in one i would say to just get a pendant or a clip on light or something it just seems like to me if you upgrade your lights to much you would then have a heat issue, but i don't know a whole bunch about the bio cube hoods

I have a 29g biocube as well, I had a baby blue hippo for about 3 weeks and then got rid of him because he was getting big, he was an awesome fish but i just felt guilty for having him in such a small tang, he was also being agressive with my six line. I like the way you have your rock setup, i have a hard time trying to find rocks that would be good in my tank. As for you lighting goes, i have the atcinic blue light and i just purchased a 50/50 light that i replaced for my 10,000 K light and it makes my tank look alot better.

If you want sps or lps corals then you need better lighting and will need to remove your hood. If you want ideas of colorful corals you can go to my recent thread, we have the same size tank. However, there are many other 30 gal threads out there to review. I know SnAke has one going too.
As for your algae problem. That is too vague of statement. You need to give your water parameters how often you feed, light schedule, what type of water you use to start and how old is the tank. That should give us a good start.
