OK, i got a bubble coral a couple of weeks ago....Up til today it was doing fine...for some reason today teh bubble are not all open, and it kinda looks...well...like a clam

Attachment 224144
I say the clam thing cause of the center...the slit..What is it???
I moved it over some to get it away from the mild flow it was in..maybe it was a little too much

anyone know?

OK, the bubble had a few bubbles this morning, but still has that "clamlike" opening as in the pic
I tested water...all the norm tests are 0
p.h. 8.2
Alk is on the low side of norman 2mg
calcium is 450
temp is 78
Anyone have any clue to what could be the problem??

Never had one. Here is what reading has taught me.
Feeding should be of finely minced foods or mysis or something very small. Even though the mouth looks large, it will irritate the heck out of the coral to get large pcs. of food.
Direct laminar flow will irritate the bejeesus out of it. While it does need some flow the flow needs to be more random and indirect.
They need to be fed several times weekly for maintenance. Daily feeding for growth
That is all I know that I can impart to you. But remember, google is your friend!!

LOL...I don't have a lfs...
If my sand sifter is dropping sand on it...could that be bothering it?
And if so, can I move it up on a rock..or does it have to be on the sand??

It can be in the rockwork. Yes sand if it is getting on it will definitly irritate it.

WELL I moved it back to the other side of the tank, up 3" onto a rock...so we'll see...I don't know if I am happy where it is though
Will mid tank with MH's be too high?
Oh yeah...it was full of sand too....

Sand = not good. Should be okay there, don't want it too close to the lights. Maybe even a little shaded, needs moderate lighting.

Mid tank will be ok??? Is that what you are saying...or are you saying it should be ok where I just put it?
I hope I didn't make it mad, but I shook a lot of sand out....It is in a spot now that the sand sifter doesn't mess with too much
HAH we shall see.

Didn't you say you had it about 3" up the rockwork? That isn't mid tank is it? I think three inches up the rockwork should be fine, with moderater to low flow and far enough away that the sweepers aren't gonna sting anything else.

I was asking if I didn't like that spot COULD I put it mid tank? LOL
I am thinking you are saying that would be TOO much light
