Hmmmm....?
i guess this reply is primarily addressed to TERRYB and TREY. I'll refer to analogies I made in an earlier post that was deleted... as, I'm sure, this one will be as well. TerryB, I mentioned a barroom brawl scenario earlier, where I felt like the guy trying to break it up. Well, I now feel like I'm taking a side. That "limb" that I was stepping out on earlier... the ego vs. intent to help limb. Well, it may have snapped on me. IMOHO, your comments lead me to belive that you're more interested in displaying your greatness, than in helping us fellow aquarists out. I hope that you can move back a bit towards the helpful side. If you did so, I think your "greatness" would shine through.
Trey has a point re: weighing the benefit of a method of treatment vs. the amount of effort and detail required to pull it off. Many of us, myself included, have a lot of other things in life that will distract us from out tanks. Even if we did have the expertise to pull of the regimine required to treat with something like Cupramine, we might not have the time to monitor properly. Personally, I've had bad experience with Cupramine..., but that's just me. As I travel a lot and work crazy hours, I don't want to have to do water changes and test copper levels frequently. I lost a copper-sensitive Flameback once bacuse of this fluctuation. Unfortunately, these illnesses don't hit at the most opportune times, when we can monitor things closely.
Terry, regardless of the treatment method, I belive that you've been more interested in demonstrating your expertise than in helping people. It's fine to disagree, but mean-spiritedness is just counter-productive. I hate to think of a forum where people are so afraid of the flames they'll get from a post that they just don't post. I think there's a post on this board, The Aquarium, where folks flame away. Meanwhile, wouldn't it be nice if the rest of these groups were about helping each other and not about proving our greatness.
Trey, I hate to say this, but I'm a bit glad that you don't have a life outside of aquariums. I'm even happier, that your work deals with aquariums. The result of this combination is that you've got a lot of time to post good info here. I hope you don't have to get distracted by the flame-war thing. I also hope that both of you get a chance to read this, before it's deleted.
