throw the salifert alk test out. It reads WAY higher then EVERY other brand (about 2dKH give or take a few fractions). go get a few more test kits (API, ELOS, Aquarium systems, Seachem, high dollar or low dollar ect). I'll put my last dollar they all read about the same except the salifert. Dont ask me why, its always been like that. several other people have noticed in back to back testing. I wouldn't assume the salifert in this case is right just because of its prestige. In this case I dont trust salifert (not that I trust redsea either but I know salifert has read high in the past).

I tested the 29G and 54G and they are a little higher like 14dkh and 5 meg
Should I plan on a 10% w/c on these tanks??

Nope, it will come down naturally. No need to try to lower it.

so do I for every other test. lots of companies have one or two that just read out of line with most other testing. seachems calcium always reads way higher than everybody elses. API is useless for low level phosphates and nitrates. Lots of mixed reports with ELOS mg test (even though I like it). I trust myself and whats most likely. If I only added a little alk supplement twice because it was low and havent dosed for a day or two I'm inclined to believe its more likely the salifert is wrong than my dKH is 14 but at the very least I'd go get a cheap API kit.
whatever the case even if the salifert runs high or not your still in double digits (doesn't run that high) so the same action applies which is do nothing. once dosed and overshot the first FOWLR I converted to reef to 16dKH. no livestock seemed to care.
