You need to disconnect that heater, and get the temp down...SLOWLY...Do not try to drop it drastically all at once...But get it down some

How long was it that hot? Do you have any fans you can put blowing on the water....?
What size tank? What do you use for top off?
is your tank closed lid? If so open them....

Sounds that way...I'd get rid of that heater....is your tank full right now? If you need to top off...since you are using tap :(....top off with cool water
REMEMBER..you do not want to drop it drastically...
I doubt your corals would be fried yet...good thing you caught it.
OHHHHH...don't forget to put some fans on it...let the fans blow the surface...that will help it to drop slowly

The temp has come down to 78 now. I looks like the coral made it through the heat wave. I went down to the lfs found out the heater was broken, still had a warrenty on it so I trades up for a fluval e300. I was told it's one of the best on the market. I guess this would be a perfect example of you get what you pay for. Thanks for all the help everyone

Yes in this hobby it is always wise to research the equipment before purchasing because this gives you a better understanding of the quality, craftsmanship and durability all which tends to make the quality products a bit more costly. Glad that everything worked out for you and that you've learned that YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR IN THIS HOBBY 1
